I couldn't agree more. You put exactly into words what I wanted to say and couldn't -- perfect sports analogy for LOCI. ( I am also a die hard Red Sox and Carlton Fisk fan -- why did they do that to him any way?)

I think those who put their passion into the effort to "Save Goren & Eames" should feel proud. Even if the campaign did not achieve the desired results, at the very least it sent a strong message of support to the actors whom I imagine appreciated it very much.
It also got the attention of USA/NBCU -- which is no small thing in a world where seemingly billions clamor daily for attention via the Internet. Congratulations.
Can we now consider saving this CI site? It's gone dead. Hardly anyone seems interested in posting anything that doesn't bemoan the exit of VDO (and Erbe) -- unless it's repeated condemnations of USA network. Forgive me, but I must be honest: This has become deeply boring. Furthermore, this subject has no place to go. VDO is not coming back -- he's made that clear.
I always found CI-US such a marvelously fun and intelligent hangout. I miss that.
This is still a site about the series and there's another season already filming. There's information about forthcoming episodes that I could be posting here and discussions we could be having. Is no one interested?

OK, I'll bite. This is a website for the show, not a fansite for the actors. Of course the show is so closely aligned with the actors, that it is difficult to separate the two. In addition, the show has been gutted by the network (we can disagree on whether this is good or bad -- it is a fact). This brings the question of what will happen to the site. I have been wondering about this as well. I am a newcomer and not as invested, but a lot of members are very vested in their friendships with other members and the camaraderie they have found here. This makes this juncture difficult. What happens next? Well there is a clear opinion among some members that they will continue to watch and look forward to the new season while other members will only watch reruns and boycott the network. It seems to me that those who want to continue discourse can and will and those that don't will drop out. The best idea may be to start some Season 9 threads for those who are interested in following the new season of the show. Those who are not interested will not participate in those discussions. I for one really enjoy Patcat's EOTW -- the best discussions I have seen of episodes -- kudos for the effort put in. A number of members will probably continue to be interested in this feature. Also, to remain connected to each other there is The Squad Room, where some fun conversations have been occurring. I appreciate AL's comments and tone of her request -- very nicely phrased. There were some superheated discussions resulting from the dramatic changes in the show. In order to keep as many members as possible continuing their dialogue and discussions on this site, we will have to be very vigilant in maintaining our tolerance of differing opinions. I fear if this does not happen, this site will become much smaller in its scope with only a few posters and it will lose the very quality that so many members seem to enjoy so much.

Well, I intend to hang around both this forum and the show. (Thank you to all who've said nice things about the EOTW, which I'll be happy to continue as long as there's interest.) I'd be happy to have AL's news and insights about the upcoming episodes. After all, there's at least the chance Mr. D'Onofrio and Bobby Goren will make their appearances. And as I've written, I like Mr. Goldblum and Zach Nichols. I don't think I'm ever going to feel about him the way I feel about Mr. D'Onofrio and Bobby--I'm not going to write fanfic in the same way for one thing--Thank Goodness, but I like the actor and the character.
I regard this board as a good source of information on the show and the actors. For those who want to talk about Mr. D'Onofrio's work or Ms. Erbe or even Chris Noth, I think this is a good place to have good conversations about that. Not blind worship of the actors and their work, but a good place to share info about appearances and work and projects and a place to talk about all those things in a friendly but intelligent way. A place where you can make, say, critical comments without being afraid of attack. (Kudos to the administrators for their work in this area).
In short, I think there's a place and role for this board, and I hope it continues.
I do need to apologize in advance for what may be more sporadic visits here in the next few weeks. Family member with a medical emergency, and I may be in and out. Then again, I may be spending more time here just to run away (g).

Well, this certainly is a crossroads and it will be interesting to see what happens. You develop connections, friendships, good discussion and dialogue with people over a period of time and then something dramatic happens which can change everything and maybe breakup the great group you've come to know so well. It's a decision everyone needs to make -- what do I do now?

Is no one interested? AL I'm interested, Annabelle! Please post any news or articles you have on Season 9. I'll try and get into it, although I'm still heartsick about losing Goren & Eames. Perhaps a Season 9 thread is now appropriate? According to our new board member/crew member vdee, there's a lot to be excited about. I'm willing to give the new cast members a chance. I'm a member here who is vested in this site. The Mods have said that they will keep it going as long as people wish to discuss LOCI, past present and future formats all. ;D Patcat, I hope your family member with the medical emergency is soon recovered. If it helps you to talk about it, you have my ear.

I'll still be occasionally haunting the older episode threads. I do enjoy those EOTW threads, as they give me new things to think about when watching older eps.

At the risk of opening a can of worms that I will have to chase after and squash beneath my feet... Those of us here who worked on this campaign are not blind worshipers of the actors and their work. There is a huge difference between positivity and "hero worship". There is a huge difference between being a fan of someone's work and being someone who believes the actor in question can do no wrong. Those of us here, who have called this board "home" for the past couple of years, and have been very vocal lately about our displeasure with the network and the way they have handled this whole thing, are certainly not your average "hero worshipers". I've been discussing and debating and working that point to death and I'll keep doing it until the last bit of uncertainty about that is gone. There's a small handful of us who remained very positive about the changes in the character-driven aspect of the show over the past couple of seasons. We thought it was great. We've dissected, debated, discussed, analyzed, and given deep thought to the many facets of our favorite show and our favorite characters. In these discussions, our opinions were said to be astute, well-thought out, even brilliant a time or two. Our own thoughts about other's opinions carried the same respect. It is very true that everyone has an opinion, and many times we differ in those opinions. However, we always managed to do so civilly. Well, bad apples and all that...and it was very clear where the line was drawn... I would also like to add that those of us who remained positive about the changes in Goren over the past few seasons were not simply worshiping "Vincent The Great", however much it was suggested that we were. Different strokes for different folks, y'all. We've all heard it. How about we all remember that? Thanks.

Well, I found this site a few weeks before news about VDOs and KEs leave broke. For now, I'm just busy getting over what is going to happen. They entertained me well over a long time. Right now, I'm tired of CI and disapointed. That said, I WOULD like to read about season 9, just in case that I might like it.

If anyone is interested in saying goodbye to Goren/Eames and former actors/characters of the show - we are moving ahead with a fundraiser to put an ad in the New York Times. There is info. posted on the website savinggorenandeamesnow.com and there is a link on the site to a blog just about the fundraising goals and such. Please forgive my sloppy blog...its been a crazy day. Charley Thanks for doing this Charley! This is something everyone can do, since everyone is going to miss VDO & KE. Can you post here your ad tribute? I understand that funds will be raised through February and you can contribute once or more than once if you want since there is time to do so. Thanks so much for organizing this!

Re: saving this site.
There are so many Vincent D'Onofrio sites and blogs on the Internet I would be very disappointed if CI-US simply became another one. In addition -- IMO -- "I remember Bobby Goren" is not a sustainable concept for a CI series forum.
I do commend the dependable, energetic PC for her EOTW thread but I believe it has always been meant as a side dish to the main course -- which is the ongoing examination of new CI episodes.
It's not a matter of tolerating "other points of view" in this case. If we no longer agree on the primary purpose for CI-US to exist we no longer have a community of shared interests and values. Community is what has given this site its richness. If some of us intend to keep to nostalgic threads and boycott discussion of new episodes, that community is gone.

"Side dish"--yea, that's a good description of the EOTW. I just hope it's broccoli casserole or grean bean casserole and not celery sticks.(g)
I certainly hope this forum continues. I'd like to continue to discuss new episodes, and to see how the character of Zach Nichols develops. At the very least, I'm going to need a new TV boyfriend, what with Goren and Monk going (g). In all seriousness, I'd like this site to provide a discussion of the new and of the old--which I think it does well.
And OBC and all the others who worked on the Saving Goren and Eames campaign--I've never, ever thought of you as blind "hero worshipers". There are some fans of Mr. D'Onofrio that I find a little scary, but I've never found them here. I supported and continue to applaud your efforts. So, if, in my cynicism, I ever came across as negative, please accept my apology.
I'm sitting down in the middle of the road again, aren't I?
