Thanks Patcat.
Oh dear, the Staten Islanders haven't been happy lately. First, the portrayal of the borough in the film Staten Island and now the filming of Criminal Intent!

Hi all, I'm more of a lurker than poster. I enjoy reading all the posts on this site. I am from Staten Island (born and raised here). The Island that I grew up on, knew and loved was nothing like the stereotypes presented. The Island has changed alot over the last 20 plus years and sadly is evolving more into that stereotype that is always presented in the media. ( Honestly, you will find that stereotype throughout all 5 boroughs, NJ too not just on SI). It saddens me because there is alot of good about the Island, lots of history but you don't hear too much about it. Off my soapbox now..... I know the area very well where the filming was taking place yesterday. It was very cool to see and I wanted to park somewhere and walk over to watch but there was no parking for many blocks. The filming took place on/near a main street where there are alot of mom and pop business'. They will hurt financially, especially in these times, by missing a day of regular business. (especially this time of year) I do understand their point of view and don't think they'd be as upset(if at all) if it wasn't the Holiday season. I still thought it was cool that they filmed there. I always love to see this stuff on SI. Duffy's, the bar involved in the filming, is a great neighborhood bar with great hamburgers. Next time I go there, I'll have to try and find out the story. I was a little sad it couldn't have been a Goren/Eames episode...I would have walked many blocks to watch! I look forward to this episode and to see the direction the new show goes. I'll always miss Goren and Eames, though. PS: I have not seen "Staten Island" yet but it is on my Netflix queue and look forward to it.

Thank you for your insight, kt. I also have "Staten Island" saved in my Netflix queue. I hope they have more than one copy! I grew up in Queens, so I know what you mean about borough stereotypes. So many people from the NYC area are nothing like what is portrayed on screen. Please consider posting on some of the other threads. We'd love to hear from you.
