Once I get far enough into it to post, it'll be on Fanfiction.net and I'll send you the link. It will be a little while...but I'll get it there eventually.

Post a link when you're done, OBC? Yes, for me too, please? I need to imagine that Goren is OK. Eames too.

Hey Patcat - I thought of something this morning while I was letting my dog out. I know - strange time to be thinking about CI - but then, when don't I think about CI??? LOL! Anyway, I'm thinking that the C of D's was actually very satisfied with having Goren fired. I think that if Bobby had resigned, that would have made the Chief happy enough - but having Alex do the deed was really sticking it to Bobby and the Chief was very nearly smirking. He at least tried to hide that smug look just a little, for decorum's sake. But I think he was immensely satisfied with being able to send Bobby his walking papers by using Alex to do it.
Creep!

Oh, I think you're right about that, OBC. Moran's been looking for Bobby's head on the plate since the Patrick Copa incident and probably before that.
But I do want to offer another possibility. I thought that Lt. Massa seemed to be calling some of the shots in LOYALTY. He certainly gave Bobby a possible out when he asked Bobby if his anger in the courthouse had been caused by something someone else did. And Moran seemed remarkably accomodating to Massa when they were talking to Alex in Moran's office.
Fanfiction certainly gives us the opportunity to give Moran what he deserves.

What should've happened is they NEVER should have made LO:CI "THE GOREN SHOW" I love VDO and his portrayal but some of the best things about L&O is the strength of the WHOLE ENSEMBLE. Without other people's quirks and issues to bounce off of, where is an actor supposed to go? I bet this show got boring for him by season 4.
I would have like to see, more cross over to SVU. I would have liked to see more DAs. issuses with Carver on his side of the building. I would have like to see more partner mixups like on SVU Benson and Stabler don't ALWAYS go out together. Most people hated when Eames was out but I loved those episodes. Watching Goren trying to deal with someone new, and being the "senior" partner for a week.
More of that would have made this last longer. Remeber when Logan and Goren went out? That was AWESOME.
When they said Jeff was coming to CI I thought he was going to be GOREN'S PARTNER and I was SOOOO HAPPY, now that he's had to replace the lead I feel bad because that was a bad format and there is no way to carry that without all the physical quirkiness that filled the screen, and if he did that then he would be copying and that would look bad as well. CI should be rolling on and On just like CSI. and House.

To me it was always the Goren show, and that was fine, but I agree with other points. I'm usually the lone member of Team Bishop. ;D

Aicram, it's funny that you should mention CSI and House as ensemble shows. While it does have other characters, House is centered around one character; and though CSI is meant to be an ensamble show, it definitely lost a lot of followers when Grissom left. To be the last great ensamble show was ER. I never minded the Goren show, but I see where you're coming from. It should have been the Goren and Eames show, but it would have been hard to give the two equal time without dialing down Goren's quirkiness about threefold--and I know none of us would want that!

I liked the Goren show but I agree they could have mixed it up more with the partners. They did briefly when Eames was on maternity and in that episode or two where she was working with Nichols. Goren with Logan was good, would have liked to see him with Logan more as well as Nichols. I always got the feel they would be oddly geeky and buddy-buddy (just my opinion) if Nichols/Goren hung out. I think that when the show bringing in new characters, it was almost like they tried to force them on us. It would have been easier to accept if they started mixing up the detectives here and there (maybe something like twice a year) so it wouldn't feel as awkward.
Even a gradual phasing out of Goren would have been better - IF done right. I think, if they showed he had other things more important. A family/wife/kid, etc. then we'd all understand why he had to go (and that he wasn't completely and utterly alone and had nothing good in his life - EVER). We'd accept the departure and be open for someone new.

Oh and yeah, I see absolutely NO justification for getting rid of Eames. If they HAD to get rid of Ross, fine but Eames was still able to work as she was alive and kicking, and there was Nichols...partnerless. And she had worked with him before. Do the math, Eames and Nichols would have been an acceptable partnership. Unlike having Stevens pop up whom I never liked.

I believe they had to get rid of Eames...because Kathryn refused to stay without Vincent.

OK, this is going to come across as overly simplistic and/or cynical. But in retrospect, CI should have called it a day after Season 7. IMO Season 8 was a vast wasteland, and we never should have had to endure the purging of the cast and all the angst that followed. CI should have ended with honor and dignity, not relegated to TV's version of a Russian gulag.

Agree completely with you, Techguy. All they had to do was look at MONK, which ended gracefully and well.

Amen to what TG said!
It's a shame we lost quality writing and character consistency for the "characters welcome" bull***t.

Even so, I'm more than happy he has left LOCI. Short but sweet - but all good things come in small measures!
