I thought this one was pretty funny, again Goldblum gave me some incongruous facial expressions which I adore.
I liked the way they had N have to be pleasant during references to his father, good guy? uh, yeah.
Partnership is going forward strongly.
The writers still need to get into more of the criminal's motivation
I thought it was good that the son was really trying to go legit and then got smacked with his reality -- suffer and loose or whack a guy

Thanks for pinch-hitting for me starting the episode thread Metella. I posted the poll earlier today.
I enjoyed this one too and like you, would still like to get more of the criminals' motivation. The best parts are, as you said, the growing development of the Nichols/Stevens partnership and the insights into Nichols' love/hate relationship with his father. ("Yes I resent my father but at least he tries to help people.") ROFL at that ziinger one-liner.
Like you I also noted how the son tried but failed to escape the life of crime black hole his mobster father created. Despite his best efforts, and how he tried to honor his late mother's wishes, the gravitational pull of the black hole was too strong. This episode evoked for me Michael Corleone's dilemma in The Godfathter Part 3 and Worf's struggles in the ST:TNG episode Sins of the Father. Emotional/psychological schizophrenia is a fascinating subject, and this episode deals with it masterfully.
