For your privacy I have made profiles viewable only to members. If you would like, I could make the off topic boards only viewable to members as well. The reason all the boards are viewable to guests now is because I understand that many people would rather keep their online status private, while still being able to read the boards. For now, you don't have to login to read any of the new posts. The down side is that all of your conversations are readily available to the public. I can make it so that you can see if new posts have been made on the main page, but only readable if you log in, as well. I am only willing to do this on the OT boards, though, because I'm very proud of the types of discussions held here and have every intention of showing you guys off So far there are no codes or scripts that I have been able to find to hide members online status. If such a thing becomes available, I would have no problem using it here. Any feedback you can provide me with on these issues will be appreciated.

I think we're fine the way we are. There is a strong sense of community on this site that I am very proud of, and I think perspective members will feel that.
So although I have shared some pretty personal information, I am also careful not to put intimate details out there for the world to read. This is just my rule for myself wherever I am on the internet. And this board has given me friends I can share with privately.

Here here
I only put things out in the cyberworld that I figure are read by lurkers. No personal info of a locating nature and all else I put out there for people to share, learn from my mistakes or any other actions I present.
The feeling of community I think is a main attractant for the type of people we want here and who will enjoy it here. I take so much of value from here, that I would like to leave it open to sharing. Even quiet lurkers may gain enjoyment & if there are lurkers out there with distain or mischief on their minds (youall know who you are and I know a few of you) - well, simply - just shame on them & on with our fun.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post here, but there is the option to surf as invisible. You can be logged into the board so you can post, but still show up as being offline.

I'm fine with the off topic boards being viewable to non-members.

The members' profiles of course should remain private. However, I have no problems whatsoever with guests/lurkers/non-members or however they're called reading all the threads and boards here. The more potential members see and read about this terrific Internet community, the better they can determine if they will fit in. Whatever I post is for anyone and everyone in cyberspace to read. If the posts and threads on this site help someone decide to join, then I'm all for it.
