hey all i just had to do it finally had to add a thread about star trek just so we can all talk about william shatners wondeful acting abilities and his great style(just kidding of course). i mean i likeed star trek out all of them my favourites were the next gen and ds9( sisko and pciard were cool, plus brent spinner as data was great and Q was a hoot). voyager bored me most of the time and enterpeise is a huge waste of time and space(lol). reagrds rom.

Rom, I think that Enterprise has improved in the last year. Have you seen the three-parter from this season with Data himself? I watched the original for Spock, TNG for Data and DS9 for the 8-)Sisko ! I only got into Voyager with the series finale and ended up catching all of S7 repeats during the summer.

hey NikkiGreen unfounrtley we havent gotten that far in enterprise in australia i think they have only recntly shown the early third season episodes which i admit are all right but not great as for the three parter with data himself not yet unforuntley though iam looking forward to seeing that episode.( oh star trrek coverage is worse than oh law and order coverage, diffrent channel and they yank it off the air when ever it suits them and put it back on again a month and three later. it is crazy) i liked spock though i prefered him in the movies from the original episodes( particularly star trek six). iam glad in generatiosn they got rid of kirk he is my least faovourite character i mean shatner is dull and has no much acting abiltity( and please dont ever replace vincent with shatner i will scream). the next generation was great if you exclude the first to seasons( oh boy those sets were almost right out of the original and aim sure the plot lines were to). ds9 was great (i felt let down by the ending it was sort of to open ended and left to much open i think).sisko was cool, though my favourite chracters were quark and garak. reagrds rom.

Rom, Enterprise gets better in the third season. On DS9, I liked the Bashir/Garak interactions, as much as the Spock/McCoy scenes. I think the finale was really good and left that way for any future movies/reunions. I know I wouldn't mind seeing "The Sisko" again. I didn't really start enjoying TNG until after Tasha left and Worf's uniform changed.

and Worf's uniform changed. ... and his hair, too. I don't know what Lenny Kravitz was thinking when he tried to revive that doo ;D For what it's worth, I was a Voyager fan from the start. I loved Kathryn Janeway.

hey trisha Kathryn Janeway was a great character and voyager did have some really good epsidoes but for some reason i found it sort of was a little weak, i mean the episodes were alright on the whole but often were a little borring. i agree worfs hair how many times did he he change it between season one of the next generation and deep space nine. nikki green i agree the next genration did noit really become watchable till the seocnd season, but it got even better in seaosn 3 partiucalry with the major unform modifications, i mean the worst part about a few of the latter episdoes was when they decided to do a kirk on picards wardrobe and gave about three or four diffrent versions of his uniform, it was kind of hard to keep up . ds9 i liked from the begining the dommion agnle introduced in season three was good and the klingon angle of season four and five were good. as for the final epsidoe i liekd it i just felt it was a bit of unfortunate way to end it plus i got a little annyed with the whole dukat parh wraith of the late seven season, i mean after running get caught did he die after after taking over empok nor( i thougth he did at least) to bad they had to kill damar right when i began to like him to( at least weayoun was removed). reagrds rom.

Rom, I'm always willing to talk Star Trek (as other ST fans can probably tell by my handle). I've watched all of them, although I haven't been watching Enterprise since it switched to Fridays (although I did catch the 3-parter about the Vulcans). I thoroughly enjoyed TOS episodes, but I have a hard time watching them now. I think TNG & DS9 spoiled me (plus I just seen them sooo often). I loved TNG & DS9, and I watched Voyager. I agree that TNG wasn't watchable at first - I say until the 3rd season (who can watch Pulaski?) Season 5 was the best IMO (Cause and Effect; Disaster; I, Borg; Darmok; Unification; Inner Light). I liked DS9 because it was "soapier" than the others. By "soapier" here I mean having an ongoing storyline and not forgetting its past. My main problem with Enterprise is that I feel somewhat betrayed. They've turned the Star Trek universe upaide down, and I, for one, do not like that. That said, I've never seen a captain I didn't like.

Big fan of the original series, sure you had some Shatner moments but those made it fun--and in between you had some great social commentary and fascinating storylines. (Plus, you can pick up a good bit of culture from the references.) Sometimes I'll catch them on the SciFi daytime rotation, but very hit and miss. And of course, Spock-- and McCoy and Scotty and Chekhov and all the others.
I caught "TNG" on occassion, didn't dislike it but never made it a point to watch (plus the whole age thing, usually I had bedtimes kicking in). "DS9" I know a few characters but very little storyline, Voyager I've seen maybe two full episodes and none of Enterprise. So my perception is a bit skewed. Plus, when Mr. Spock is a 7 year old's role model there's bound to be a sentimental attachment...

Hey Darmok, I caught your name from the start. One of my fav TNG eps!
Yea Data, Q, Quark, Luaxana Troy--some of my all-time favorite Trek characters. Also Spock and Dr. McCoy, can't forget them. I watch TNG from begining to end and DS-9 for about 5 years I guess. I got into Enterprise in a big way, for a short while. It has a really shitty time slot down here on my networks and I forgot to watch it--then forgetting altogether. Tripp Tucker was my favorite on there (yea, a fellow southerner with an adorable accent and face...what can I say). But, I haven't watching that in many-moons.
Actually I miss Picard and Sisko's crews, guess I'll have to find the reruns.

Rom, you have great things to look forward to in Season 4 including out of control Vulcans and an appearance by the Romulans in a great two part episode. Unfortunately, UPN announced today that Enterprise will be no more after the fourth season. tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|93332|1|,00.html ETA: MelTex, I think that Darmok is a great episode. I don't want to spend all that $$$ on the DVD sets, but I'm considering getting just the Best of Jean-Luc Picard set because that's one of the 10 episodes on that DVD.

I didn't know you could get a best of Picard set! I was considering getting a TNG DVD set, cause I really miss Q (the eps with Q are some of my all time favs), but I didn't want to float a loan to do it. Great idea! Sidenote: If anyone high up in NBC marketing is reading this, I WOULD float a loan if you'd just put season 2 of Criminal Intent out on DVD!! Seriously...you guys need to get it out, you'd make a ton of $$!! At least, if you must run re-runs...run some season 2 reruns!! Pretty please! *Ok, done groveling*

hey NikkiGreen read that article, what a pity and just when it was getting good. i wonder what the reasons are for taking it off the air now, i also wodner if it will retun on a different network at a later time. i stil lhope they go ahead and make the next movie they have been planning. yeah darmok was a good episode. as for the Q vcepsidoes apart form encounter at farpoint which i felt was a bit silly were really funny and very good. proabbly my favourite would have to be tapestry, it was very intresting. on the topic of Q i really felt for Q the first time he went to deeps space nine and got kncked out by sisko( bad move Q to challange the sisko to a boxing match). whats this about a best of picard dvd set how long has that been avlaible for, i may have to look for it if it comes out here in aus. reagrds rom.

I haven't seen enough of TNG to say which episodes I like best, but characters are interesting. Geordi was good, I remember a "Reading Rainbow" episode where LeVar Burton took the viewers on a tour of the TNG set, that was so cool! Of course Patrick Stewart is awesome, Data was neat, and Worf was interesting in the bits I saw (plus, he had a voice, lord-a-mercy he did!).
Favorite TOS episodes: "Requiem for Methuselah", "Amok Time"--cool bit of trivia, Celia Lovsky who played T'Pau was in the same Berlin theatre troupe as Peter Lorre and actually left Germany with him when the Nazis came to power in the '30s, eventually they got married. Last semester they were showing "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" and I had to leave for class, which made me ready to spit cause I haven't seen it straight through. "Space Seed", "Mirror, Mirror," "Bread and Circuses", etc. Like I said, sporadic viewing but they knew how to do it, I just love bits and pieces of all the characters.
As to the movies with the original cast, IV is my favorite followed closely by VI. It's been a while since I've seen the others, but I do remember that I and V were pretty poopy. "First Contact" is the only later movie I actually saw in the theatres, not bad.

Sarek also a fav of mine, very powerful performances by Stewart and Mark Lenard. Thats ok, I'll just have to find a season with some of my fave Q eps. Especially the one with our own Olivia D'Abo (Nicole) as a young Q. I think that ep was Q Who?, but I'm not sure. Worf's voice *grin* oh yea, he had a wonderful bass didn't he. Speaking as well as singing!
