I just finished watching this and I was surprised to not see a discussion for this one yet! ( I warn you now, this could get lengthy. I loved it THAT MUCH!)
It has alot of qualities that makes this show so great to me! Since it is first season, there are alot of instances where you see that the characters are still learning a bit about each other.
At the crime scene in the beginning in Blakemore's house, Carver asks Eames, "Is his investigative style always so sociable?", when Goren in sniffing the trash can. And I love her reply: "Yeah, sure." LOL
I love Eames' comments in this ep too! When they are at 1PP, and Goren is reading Emily Trudeau's work and Eames asks him what he is reading. He tells her and she says, "Stop it, you're making me hot." Or later when he's reading Sabatelli's books and she asks him if he's underlining the dirty parts. LOL
I love the exchange in Judge Blakemore's office:
Goren: You went to Yale?
Blakemore: Yale and Columbia, I graduated from both.
Goren: You were law review?
Blakemore: No.
Eames: Or that other award that they give to the top 10 percent of the class - Order of the Coif?
Blakemore: No.
Eames: That's because you had a 2.0 average. What do they call that?
Goren: Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Gentleman's C's. Isn't that it?
This shows just how well Goren and Eames can work together. How they "read" each other. I love it!
The whole scene in Gordon's Steakhouse is probably one of my favorite scenes in the whole series. I don't know, I just really like it. Maybe its the fact that we see them outside of work.
When they are talking about Arnie:
Goren: Fired from his last two jobs for violent outbursts.
Eames: History of violence? Sounds like a distinguishing feature of the semi-professional hitman. I only look like I'm not paying attention to you.
Later, after they question Arnie, they start believing that Sabatelli may be responsible. Deakins doesn't want to go there yet, so he says to get a search warrant for Arnie's place to look for the computer. And Goren replies, "You care who we ask?" Cracked me up!
But the reason I really like this episode is this:
When Carver and Goren are in a heated discussion about Sabatelli, it's Eames who has the brilliant idea to charge Arnie with violating his probation. Knowing that it will end up in Sabatelli's courtroom. Eames! She's very strong in this episode. I also like her jab to Sabatelli, "Isn't that why they call it PROBABLE cause your honor?" You go!
When I just went back to see who wrote this awesome episode, it didn't surprise me. Stephanie SenGupta.
