Anyone who wants to play, vote away! I will keep the polls open for one week, voting will close at 7pm ET on Thursday June 1. If there is no clear cut winner, there will be a runoff election. Go for it!

Thanks for organizing this, Techguy, I'm really looking forward to it....and as for the poll itself, what a tough choice, I hope we watch more than one of these over the Summer because it's near impossible to choose just one!

Yes, thanks again Techguy! I agree with SarahIvy. It's a great group of contenders, and hopefully we'll have time to do more than one like we did last year.

Unless things change dramatically with some last minute votes for another film, it looks like we're going to have to fasten our seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!

At least I won't have to go any further than my movies shelf for that one. ;D

Well, I put in my order for All About Eve and for Casablanca, for good measure, I haven't watched these in a long time and it will be nice to visit old friends again I vote we watch them all...but then again, when it comes to books, music and movies I get kind of greedy. madger

Well, now that we know what we're seeing, do we have a "View By" date to start discussion? Can't wait!!!

Catbird, I think you're right about the movie of choice. But just as a reminder for anyone wanting a say and has not yet voted--VOTE!!! The polls close in about 5 hours!!!
As for a View By Date--I'm open to suggestions as to what's reasonable. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to allow at least two weekends for most members to acquire and view the winning entry. If anyone has any thoughts on the subject, I'm listening!
BTW, if we have time and willing participants, we could do another movie night after the discussion winds down for the current movie. If nothing else changes, we would do the runner-up, which as it stands now would involve a runoff poll vote.

This is a great idea, Techguy!! I love all the films suggested, but had to go with Ms. Davis - just love her in AAE.

The polls have CLOSED, and the results are in. It wasn't even close-- "All About Eve" is the WINNER with two-thirds of the votes cast!AAE was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won 6, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay (both for Joseph Mankiewicz). George Sanders as Addison De Witt steals almost every scene he is in, and took the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, which I think is one of the best and most deserved Oscars for a supporting role.
If anyone wants a prelude/accompaniment to viewing AAE, here's the link to the IMDb page for the movie. Check out the Trivia and Quotes sections. True to Mankiewicz's ear for dialogue, the dialogue in AAE crackles with wit and keen observation. www.imdb.com/title/tt0042192/
If this planned schedule works for everyone, I'm going to allow two weekends for acquiring and viewing, with discussion to commence on Monday June 12. Whoever launches the discussion can start a brand new thread specifically for AAE.
If we have time to do another movie this summer, we will vote between the second place tie movies "Casablanca" or "On the Waterfront" for Movie Redux #2.

Sounds GREAT !
I will probably need the two weekends - as I get so busy I forget what I planned & may need the two weeks.
I'm in for a week or two off & then go into the next movie once the comments die down about this one.

I'm looking forward to this, and Mrs. Techguy plans to watch with me. This should be a "bumpy night" indeed as I cannot wait to hear her commentary which will no doubt be even better than on the DVD!

Thanks NikkiGreen, I should have read over here first, as I responded to Metella's question about AAE on the FF thread.
