I just watched this. I knew going in that it being a Robert Rodriguez film it would be very violent and gory. It's based on Frank Miller's Sin City and captures the style incredibly well. I thought immediately of Filmnoir, it's a send-up and homage to that genre all in one breath. It's amazing in that it is mostly black and white with splashes of intense colors here and there. In some scenes blood is shown as white and it is very creepy, more so than when shown in red on b/w. As usually Mr. Rodriguez managed to assemble an amazing cast of all his bad boy buddies: Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Benicio del Toro, Michael Madsen and Elijah Wood to name a few. And Quentin Tarantino as guest director whatever that means. I thought it quite good, all in all.

I saw it after tons of people recommended it. It was ok. I really didn't get what all the fuss was about though. Maybe it's a guy thing.
