I got 71%. Among others, I missed number thirteen because I didn't get the joke until I googled the transcript on the net.

Saw two new ones (well, for me anyways) on the TV. The first was a cartoon "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". It was worthy. The second was a beautiful little holiday film called "Blizzard" directed by LeVar Burton. Among its stars were Christopher Plummer as Father Christmas and Whoopi Goldberg voicing a reindeer named Blizzard. That was rather touching.

RUDOLPH is on this Friday at 8. I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it does teach us that differences are good, that we all have talents, but on the other--what poor Rudolph has to go through!
Has anyone else seen the brilliant parody called (I believe) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER as directed by Martin Scorses? It was on MAD-TV several years ago.

Actually CityTV has The Log Burning - surprisingly very watchable! Another Yule Log watcher!! We watch the Yule Log every year on our local PBS station. Honestly, I have perhaps an unhealthy obssession with it....I love waiting and waiting for the mysterious arm to come into frame and fuss with the fire. Oh, and last year it was at Timberline Lodge (where The Shining was filmed) and they had their huge old Saint Bernard passed out next to it. My favorites I try to catch every year (or pop in and watch because we own them)- A Christmas Story The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the proper animated verision, not the horrible modern Blasphemy!) White Christmas Scrooged (I just can't help it, I have a Bill Murray thing ) It's A Wonderful Life (B&W version only) Oh, and I love Rudolph! Patcat, I LOVED the MadTV parody...seriously one of the most hilarious things they have ever done.

I wonder who got stuck with the turning-the-yule-log job and do they switch the channel to watch themselves doing it on Christmas day?!

I saw an ad on TV for a Yule log DVD which comes with different views and music options--the next best thing to actually being there in person.
Darn it, I realized too late that A Christmas Story was on Turner Classic Movies tonight! Luckily, it will be repeated this coming Sunday, December 17 at 4PM ET.

Janethyland, 84 Charing Cross Road will be on a few US subscription cable/satellite channels over the next month. But that's not going to help you out very much.www.tv-now.com/stars/hopkins.html

Don't dispair Techguy, "A Christmas Story" will be on 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve, maybe you can catch it a couple of times between egg nogs.

DVD vs burning a log. We really will watch anything.

I got the chance to watch the movie on TCM today, and with no commercial interruptions. BTW, what channel is airing ACS continuously on Christmas Eve? I might have to give it a second viewing if it's commercial-free.
Our local NBC affiliate aired It's a Wonderful Life last night but I didn't watch--WAAAAY too many commercials. I reserved this plus A Christmas Carol DVD rentals for Christmas Eve night, so Mrs. T and I can watch without all the annoying odes to greedy commercialism.

I watched a very sweet movie on CBC about two weeks ago called The Great Canadian Polar Bear Adventure I don't know if it qualifies as a Christmas movie but it certainly had the spirit of one.

TBS will air "A Christmas Story" from 8 pm Dec 24th till about 8 pm the 25th. I can't remember if they show commercials or not. I started watching "Its a Wonderful Life" last night, and agree they sure had a ton of commercials, we gave up and baked cookies. Bravo will have 8 hours of LOCI on both Sunday Dec 24th and Monday the 25th if you want to skip the holiday stuff!

Sobergal95, TBS is also loaded with commercials so I'll skip their ACS Christmas Eve marathon. I'll add this DVD rental to those I reserved and do a holiday movie triple header that night.
I'm also going to skip the Bravo CI Christmas Eve/Day marathon. If I'm going to watch CI for 8 hours, it has to be commercial-free. I endure the commercials on first airing, but afterward I have zero patience for them. That's what VHS tapes and DVDs are for. ;D

One of my favorite Christmas Eve movie marathons was the "Aliens" trilogy with my family. Nuthin' spells holiday fun like creatures crawling outta someones chest. ;D ;D
