Ben-Hur.
It's on right now and I can't remember a Christmas when I didn't watch it!

Ah, nothing quite evokes the spirit of Christmas like a good old-fashioned chariot race!

I don't think of Ben-Hur as Christmas--Easter, sure. What's really fun is when TCM will show the old silent black and white Ben-Hur, that's always cool.
How the heck is Sound of Music Christmas? I guess they show it around that time, but what's the reasoning behind that? I personally can't stand the film or stage show, even when I know and dearly love half the cast. Just too obnoxiously cheerful.

Don't dispair Techguy, "A Christmas Story" will be on 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve, maybe you can catch it a couple of times between egg nogs. - That drives me nuts! 24 hrs of one flick! OMG you could go insane. How the heck is Sound of Music Christmas? I guess they show it around that time, but what's the reasoning behind that? I personally can't stand the film or stage show, even when I know and dearly love half the cast. Just too obnoxiously cheerful. - I have to say I love "The Sound of Music" been obsessed with it twice. I agree it's too cheerful <--I loved it for a year before I told anyone I was obsessed with it again. And I have no idea why they associate it with Xmas either. I'd love to know that. I noticed that SOM is the one flick that is played annually around Xmas, once and only once. Not even "The Wizard of Oz" or "Gone with the Wind" like that. "Nightmare before Xmas" & "Rocky Horror Picture Show" are my picks for Halloween flicks. For Rocky Horror I would watch it every Halloween after going out candy hopping, when they used to show it on Halloween. It was somewhat of a tradition. And Hey I just love those flicks!

I found this Christmas promo photo from the SOM film. Don't know why they took it. Though I do think they had celebrated Christmas in one of the original German films.

Just got done watching the movie Pirates of the Caribean (the last one). I love Johnny Depp. The fight scenes with the old ships is fantastic. I wonder if there is going to be another one in the series. The way it ended it seemed there would be.

Tradition requires my honey and me to watch "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" (animated) and "A Christmas Story" at least three times a season. This year for the first time in many, we will have Christmas day to ourselves, no traveling and no guests so we plan to watch "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy, extended edition and eat scones and cocoa all day. Heaven.

The first time I saw this movie, was when I was in Ireland as a child. We were dressed up in our Sunday best, and went to town. My sister found a 20 pound note on the ground. My grandmother encourged her to give 10 pounds to the poor, and she bought us all Ice Cream during intermission. It was the first time I experienced an intermission with a movie. the theater had a balcony and we sat up in it. It was a wonderful time for all.

They play it on TNT the entire day of Christmas. Now that's just way too much. Awesome!!! - wow what a way to experience that movie. The first time I saw it was during the summer time about 12 years ago, they were playing it on tv and I used to like Mary Poppins when I was about 6, and my grandmother said hey I think you'd like this movie. So I reluctantly watched it and became hooked. Been obsessed with it twice, started it's fanfiction on ff.net and I own 6 copies of it! I didn't get to see the intermission until I got the dvd (the 5 star, 35 anniversary), the old 2 set VHS didn't have it.
