I got to see this over the holiday (I know, I'm late, but I refuse to pay full price and wait for movies to come to my Dollar cinema... ;D). Excellent, fascinating, beautiful to watch, twisty story, fine actors. Go see it.

I loved it too, although I read the Illusionist is of the same caliber, too. I should probably PM you so no spoiler alerts, but did you guess all the twists? I would love to see it again. It wasn't as good as Memento, but it was very good. I think CI fans would really enjoy the Prestige. Especially given our recent discussions about redemption, retribution, etc. Big, big life questions in that movie.
Again, good luck to you and your daughter. My mom worries when I go to the dentist. It never stops, does it?

Thanks, noc; and no, the mommy guilt continues on, but so does the love...
I've been waiting for "Illusionist" to get to my $ cinema. I've read the reviews comparing the two, mostly to "Prestige"'s detriment, but I'd rather judge for myself! I got very caught up in the whirlwind of revenge/obsession, but I did catch the "hats" early on...I didn't see much redemption in the story, I thought the magicians were all (the engineer--Michael Caine--included) horrid, destructive and selfish people. The acting, story, even the costumes were beautiful to watch, and this is one I will think about for awhile. I love that.

I saw this movie last night I thought it was a good story, but I didnt like like any of magicians. Poor Sarah, if only she knew the truth.
I feel "The Illusionist" was a better movie, because a person comes away with a better feeling.
Oh Sarahlee, we always wait for the movies to come on demandtv. We very seldom go to the movies anymore. too expensive. but if we go, we like to go to a Regal movie theater for their stadium seating. We always sit at the very top, with a big tub of butter popcorn. and I sneak in my own water bottles ;D

We always watched the scary movies from the front rows, (nothing scarier than a 6' hocky mask) but the mushy ones in the balcony--so we could throw popcorn on the couples below!
