Which are your favorite roles and movies for VDO, Kathryn Erbe, and other present and future L&O cast members. I have a little list, given that I live in a small town and my life revolves around my netflix queue ... my top four:
(1) Bang The Drum Slowly (Michael Moriarty)--I find Moriarty (leaving aside his quirkiness) simply mesmerizing. I think this is one of the greatest movies of all time. And that you can get it on half.com for five bucks suggests further degradations in that general cultural literacy thing ...
(2) Rich In Love--This is a good movie and a better book. One of my favorite roles for Kathryn Erbe. The script's not as good as the book by a long shot, but she makes the character come alive.
(3) Mystic Pizza--VDO is ridiculously hot in this. It was well worth the $3.44 at Walmart.
(4) Speaking of Sex--actually, KE only has a small part in this, but I found it hilarious. Which probably makes me a "very crude individual," and it's certainly an adult movie, but it made me laugh at all turns.
I liked *Dream with Fishes*, too, but I think it could be something of an "acquired taste," as it were.

The only one I've seen extensible is VDO, who is always good, even if some of his movies aren't. I loved him in The Whole Wide World and he was tres hot in Fires Within, even though the movie itself is so so. The only KE movies I've seen were Stir of Echoes and What About Bob, she was great in both and they are both eminently watchable. Poor CN, he sure has had bad luck choosing his movies, I don't know if he was ever in a good one, except maybe Cast Away, but he has a very small part in that.

Yeah--I think it would be fun to see CN in a full-length movie. I'd like to see that Exiled movie ...
I liked Stir of Echoes too. Chicago is such a beautiful city.

If you want to see a good long film with CN, pick up Cesar. I really loved watching Chris in that one. It seemed to be such a different role for him.
I loved KE in Stir of Echoes and What About Bob also and I loved the movie Mystic Pizza.

Mystic Pizza is truly wonderful. I sort of miss the era when movies could be like that.
I also really liked KE in *Dream With The Fishes*, which may again, be a bit of an acquired taste. I've found regardless of the quality of the film that she always does a great job--and she's very pretty with dark hair.

Searching for Paradise with CN is pretty good. Sad, but good.

Hee, I hear you on the Netflix love, Deathroe, it saves my sanity out here in the boonies! Hmmmmm, well let's see... Jamey Sheridan- Ooooh, The Stand. I love me some Stephen King, and Sheridan is such a fantastically awesome bad guy. I had a little trouble when he first showed up on LOCI because I kept picturing him as pure mulleted evil, aka Randall Flagg. Also, The Ice Storm is a fantastic little movie, and his performance is just one of many excellent ones. In terms of something so bad it's good, I love Lifetime Television for Women movies, and one of my favorites is Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story...starring Sheridan as the super creepy peeping tom neighbour and Angie Harmon as the woman he's peeping on. D'Onofrio- I adore Happy Accidents, it's one of my favorite movies, just a lovely little film. Also Thumbsucker and Dangerous Lives of Altarboys. There are certain things I like a great deal about The Cell (the extraordinary visuals and the utterly terrifying performance by D'Onofrio), but there are large chunks of this movie that I avoid and would prefer to never see again (namely anything NOT happening in the killer's mind). Awww, Mystic Pizza. I love that movie It's one of my absolute favorites from the 80's, I get the warm fuzzies just thinking about it. Sam Waterston- The Killing Fields. Just an excellent movie all around, a complete classic. Also, I haven't seen it in years, but I remember being very impressed by the version of The Glass Menagerie starring both Waterston and Moriarty Michael Moriarty- I cannot help myself, I LOVE The Stuff. Terrible, TERRIBLE 80's horror movie. I cannot recommend it enough. Ok, that's all I can think of right now, I may have to amend later. I do love talking about movies

Oh, heavens, SarahIvy, I just moved The Stuff to the top of my Netflix queue. You have no idea how much I salivate at the prospect of Moriarty in a horror movie with a blurb like that, messed up as that might be ...
I spent eight years in grad school and rented maybe two movies. The town I lived in before had actual bookstores and a dollar theatre, bars ... this town has none of those things! I spend all my time with Netflix, and my CI DVDS, well obviously *s*

Great topic! I'm surprised there aren't more replies than just this 1 page... KE: Have only seen her in "What About Bob," and it amuses me that she looks EXACTLY the same as she does now, sort of a "mini me." This is one of my fiance's favorites, as he's a MH counselor, so I've seen it several times. VDO: Okay, I haven't seen them ALL, but hands down "Steal This Movie" is my favorite. The commentary by VDO and Jeannene Garafalo (sp?) on the DVD is a RIOT. I've been a fan of his since "The Imposter," where I watched that movie for Gary Sinese and ended up hooked on the quirky detective who was chasing him. I haven't seen "Thumbsucker" but am planning to, as I also have a raging crush on Vince Vaughn Casting the 2 Vince's together as brothers for "The Break-Up" was perfect! "Mystic Pizza": I keep hearing good things about this movie...have only caught a few scenes while on TV, and to my delight, they were mostly VDO's scenes "Men In Black": As disgusting as VDO looks in this, I keep watching it anyway whenever it's on cable. It's a very cute movie. "The Cell": I was very impressed by this, mostly because I wasn't expecting it to be any good. The effects were great, and VDO was repulsive and creepy and totally convincing as a psychopath. And Vince Vaughn is also in this one: Bonus! -stv

THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. (Have I mentioned I really like this movie (g)). Mr. D'Onofrio at his best.

*Mystic Pizza* is one of my favorite movies. I think it's way better than *Pretty Woman*, which came out a little later and was such a big deal (well I was in high school, so I guess it seemed like a big deal *g*). If you like VDO, you could probably even just watch his scenes on mute, lol. I was able to find a new copy very reasonably (actually, I bought it for $3.44 on the Monday after Thanksgiving) ... so you're telling me I should stick with *The Breakup*? I haven't been able to get through it, even though Vince Vaughn and Chicago are also both very nice to look at.
I think it's hilarious how long KE played a teenager for, if you look at how she then changed in to Eames (and she has those Eamsian moments in *What About Bob?* too, which are pretty funny in retrospect. *Rich In Love* is very good indeed, and I also really liked *Dream With The Fishes.* If you can get past the lurid and extreme nature of the opening and of the premise, her performance is very delicate. I'm a fan.
I would very much enjoy seeing the two of them work together in something else. A girl can dream!

Mystic Pizza is one of my personal favorites, and VDO makes the movie.
When "What about Bob" came out, a group of us loved this movie so much we had "What about Bob" parties. It was such a hoot. It wasn't until recently I realized KE was in it. I think I will get it out again this weekend.
Sheridan in the Stand was so very good. He makes a great bad guy. I actually like him better as a bad guy. He was great on LOCI but he makes bad look good.
I have to go get the Break-Up because I am probably one of the last people on the planet to see it. Sounds like a movie weekend.

Oh, forgot to mention how much I love Jamey Sheridan in "The Stand"! He was such a perfect Randall Flagg, I sometimes have trouble seeing him as anyone else! Well, maybe that hot cardiac surgeon in "Chicago Hope." I had a bit of a problem getting through "The Break Up" on the 1st viewing; maybe because I'd recently been through a bit of rough time with my fiance by the time we saw it on DVD. It's hard to watch if you've lived any of it yourself (and really, who hasn't?). But my two Vince's made it worth a 2nd viewing.

For VDO - The Whole Wide World
For KE - Loved her in Oz - a very dark series but her character was most intriguing.
