I'm finding myself obsessing a lot about these lately and wondered if anyone else here liked them. I know a lot of people were disappointed in *For Your Consideration*, but I found it interesting and watchable.*
*There is a vague degrees of separation thing going on with Kathryn Erbe, who starred in a (good) movie with Catherine O'Hara and a couple of movies with Bill Murray (inter al.)

I'm a mild fan, loved "Spinal Tap", had a blast watching "Best in Show" with people who actually show dogs, they recognized all the characters. "A Mighty Wind" was ok, but you really have to be a folkie (which I am) to appreciate it. I haven't seen "For Your Consideration" yet.

Most people seem to prefer Best in Show or Waiting for Guffman. My favourite is *A Mighty Wind* precisely because of the folkie element: I love the music, but also as a Canadian I find Catherine O'Hara's deeply-felt caricature-ish of Sylvia Tyson of Ian and Sylvia fame to be one of the best things I've ever seen. I think Waiting for Guffman might be the strictly funniest one, however. I think what I like most about the movies is how they send up whatever it is they're sending up but also somehow manage to convey the joy and wonder of it.
For Your Consideration is not a very funny movie, IMO--kind of sad, really, what happens to the serious actors who get swept up in their own Oscar buzz. However, once again, Catherine O'Hara wins at life. (I would really recommend *Speaking of Sex*, which features O'Hara and also has a rather strange role for Kathryn Erbe--I don't usually like smut, but it was just hilarious.)
