Critics who have nothing better to do than to trash Michael Bay's work whenever he comes out with a movie need to lighten up.
I walked into 'Transformers' expecting a thin storyline and lots and lots of action and cool special effects. Who better to deliver all that than Michael Bay, who always manages to improve himself each time he directs a movie and, as with all Bay's previous works, to fully enjoy it, it's better watched on the big screen with surround sound so as to pound your senses numb. Here Bay uses his old bag of tricks with a few new ones; quick cuts, slow-mo shots, music video style editing all add to the charm.
As for storyline, a war raging between two robot factions spills out onto earth when a power cube both sides seek lands on earth. The whereabouts of this cube lies with Sam Witwicky, just an average teenager who suddenly becomes everybody's target.
Is it cheesey? Yeah a little, but that works in it's favor. Anthony Anderson and John Turturro were there for comedy relief and they more than lived up to their roles. Used as the main theme song is Linkin Park's 'What I've Done' (one of my most favourite bands and songs right now).
The movie was awesome. It proves that we should never listen to movie critics, better to watch a movie and judge for ourselves. Until I see a reason otherwise, I'm a Bay fan all the way....you gotta see it before it leaves the cinemas because on a tv screen, it loses some of it's entertaining abilities.
