I'm with you caseyswife! Love it that Eames is feeling well enough to snark. It was awesome when she tossed her phone to the gardener and told him to "give her a call, sweetheart." And then told him he'd be ten to fifteen years late if he was lucky! And Goren messing with Lena's stuff, was great. Vintage Goren.

I liked it..... and I feel that possibly this season has something to do with Goren facing his own childhood. "Sirens Call" ended with Goren looking at young Emily after her father committed suicide. This episode ended with Goren looking at Ted's son. Only Goren can truly appreciate the truth of the highly dysfunctional family, and what effect it will have on the children.
off to another viewing!

I think the tie thing (the disappearing and reappearing) is becoming a new Gorenism or something! Loved him and Eames *FINALLY* back in an interrogation room at some point in the episode - and they were rolling just like old times! Loved Ross - loved Ross! Did you catch the gymnast line? I nearly fell off the couch... So dry! And then when he and Goren were comparing the books? I really liked that scene - I still miss Deakins but I love seeing Goren and Eames having to 'learn' the new guy. I still don't like some of the fast cuts of camera - But I think this episode had just the right blend. The whole brother vs. brother/favoritism angle may become interesting if Bobby's brother shows up at some point. Wow, I gotta go watch this again!! caseyswife

Ahhhh! Finally, a satisfying story and the Goren and Eames I love!!!! LOVED the nod to Strangers on a Train! And the entire theme of deuling brothers, a father's favoritism and the destruction it wreaks, without overt Goren angst was perfect and actually gave the plot some depth rather than existing outside the plot.
Ross showing up at the crime scene and commenting, about no points for form, but a ten for stick2itiveness was awesome, and a nice counterpoint to the less funny fact that he was clearly there checking up on them.
And, yes, gorenrocks, hooray for a return of snarky Alex. Will watch again before commenting further.

Sounds like a great episode guys - Can't wait to see it - I have about 1 hour to go. Just wanted to comment on one thing Cassie said - Only Goren can truly appreciate the truth of the highly dysfunctional family, and what effect it will have on the children. Although I'm not denying that this statement does ring true for Goren's character / I don't think one can say ONLY Goren can appreciate this fact. We don't know much about Wheelers background, or Eames background AND we certainly know that Logan had a massively disfunctional upbringing as well. So I would say that most probably they can all appreciate the truth and effect of a highly disfunctional family. Perhaps it was just a typo on Cassie's part -

I did not enjoy this episode. I figured out who the killer was really fast based on one comment. I miss the intensity of Goren in the interrogation room. This is the second time I remember a comment about Eames father doing something wrong during retirement. What's up with that!

I LOVED IT!!!!!But I still miss the doink doinks... caseyswife Ditto! (And it's "DUH-duhms!" LOL) I am now officially on the record as a Ross fan. He's sly and smart and he doesn't trust much, my kinda guy! I caught the almost telepathic communication between Goren & Eames at The Bad Son's home, and the warning to her partner ("...the Captain is here!") by Eames. The story felt familiar, in a good way. The cast was tops, with a good, tight story. Most of all, no big questions, I seemed to understand the characters and all the action. Does anyone know who wrote this one? Forgive me for being shallow, but what is up with Rip's hair?! Was that a bad toupe? Yuck.

This is Carrie Preston's third time around as a CI guest star--she's also in "Zoonotic" and "Magnificat."

First of all, I finally got to see a Goren episode this season without interuption! So WHOO HOO! First thing that jumped out at me: Lena, (Carrie Preston) a serial repeat guest! Bedfellows marks her third appearance. She was in Zoonotic (the girl poisoned by earrings) and in Magnificat (blew up her kids)! Rambling thoughts: Nice to see Goren and Eames having some of the old zing back. Do miss the interrogation scenes. Those were always my favorite part of CI. Also miss the Chungs. It's an L&O trademark. Not a fan of Ross. He irks me more and more each time I see him. My husband and I laughed out loud when the gardener told Goren he could drink the insecticide. I laughed when my husband said "Wonder if Eames is drinking that stinky shake?" in the interrogation room. CI trivia: Carrie Preston's husband also appeared on CI in "Phantom".

I'm pretty sure I saw Stephanie SenGupta's name in the credits, I think writer but I'm not sure. Unfortunately we had earthquake warnings from Forsythe County and my roommate was shuffling aorund working on a project, so a repeat viewing is definitely in order.
I'm not quite sure as to the motivation for Lena to kill her husband. We got a couple mentions of the debt thing and humiliation, but there was so much focus on Charlene I got lost. I think all the actors did a good job of portraying this nasty family, and lord help the little boys. I liked Lena's touch of straighteneing the knick knacks on the dresser whent he plan was falling apart. It looked to me like the little boy (Charlene and Adlai's son) had something around his mouth, like peanut butter or something orange, so I was waiting for that to be an issue.
Is this the first time we've seen other activity in the coroner's lab while Rodgers is talking to the detectives? I like the geeky accountant. "That's really complicated, it'll take forever to sort through it all...that'll totally work." Hee.
I like Ross. While we didn't get too much time with the book club, it seems like he may be able to hold his own with Goren in unexpected ways beyond "I'm your commaning officer and I said so". (Much as I love Deakins, I can't imagine him springing that out.) And Ross's crack about "future guest of Jerry Springer" had me giggling.
Was it just me or did Goren seem really brusque and almost pissy through most of the episode? The little boy at the house he seemed very curt to and disinterested, normally you would expect him to pay a bit more attention but "It was very smart of you to call 911" came across as a rote standard for kids at a crime scene. I can sympathize and understand with a problem mother and all the to her complications hitting close to home, but normally he manages to be polite. Didn't stop him from watering the plants though. Need to fix a problem? Trying to put some distance between him and Charlene so he wouldn't break bad?

PS: How many heroes fell apart at "Charlene refuses to stop seeing her lover"? Just me? OK. Well, as far as I'm concerned it's an anniversary shout-out to the Colbert Nation, hoorah!

I LOVED IT!!!!!But I still miss the doink doinks... caseyswife No, it's chung chungs I loved this episode! Goren and Eames were perfect. Yes, the snark is back and so are the Gorenisms. I'm liking Ross a lot more. I was worried he would just be a replacement for Deakins, but he's definitely got his own style and it works well. I was thinking the same thing Nicolemarie about the actress that played Lena. Is she the only one who has appeared in more than 2 episodes? And twice as the villain, wow. I felt so bad for the little boy at the end. Very much like the sister in Siren Call, left with a family destroyed. I'm so glad Goren kept it together. Angsty Goren in 3 episodes in a row would have been too much.
