Becoming Jane

I don't go to movies much. Last one was Paris, Je t'aime.

Just saw Becoming Jane in the theatres. I agreed with Roger Ebert's review of the film. You definitely have to be in the right mood to see it and not too much of an expert on the author in order to enjoy the film. I found it thought provoking, but my expectations were probably too high. I don't think much would be missed by waiting for the DVD.

well, she is probably my favourite writer in the whole world. For all the reading I've done of her I never came across a lover BEFORE she started writing. It's as if the film guys want to state that thwarted lover = creative talent. I think she would have derided that conclusion (along with the vapours - she just seemed too SENSIBLE a woman of her day)

I think he was one of many that she had wielded her powers on but maybe he's too *somethig* to admit it...
