Time to review this episode

In spite of my criticisms, I did enjoy the episode. I thought the guy from "Unblinking Eye" was excellent in this meatier role. I also was glad to see Goren & Eames working together so well, apparently things are back to normal for them. Sure, Goren gave Eames some need for an antacid, but she's used to it. Like Techguy & others, I agree that it wasn't realistic that T.J. would murder his friend Kyra so easily. I also found it implausible that Kyra, in spite of her "in the hood" upbringing, would taunt & berate a man holding a gun on her (T.J.). Come on. I was wondering if all along Goren has been (occasionally) blowing his stack, but we haven't been privy to it? I say this because I'm reminded of that scene in "Privilege" when Eames says "I'd shut up if I were you." Sounded to me like she's seen her partner very angry & showing it.

I liked it.
The writing was a little too in your face for my liking. I thought Goren's anger was a little misplaced but I'm glad he was something other than depressed and needy.

I'm too divided down the middle, liking some parts and disliking others, to give this episode anything higher than a C. I felt the whole was less than the sum of its parts, and therefore only average.

One of the very few times I've ever given a G/E episode a C. The whole edisode was too contrived, particularly the motives (including Goren's -- what was he so angry about?).

One of the very few times I've ever given a G/E episode a C. The whole edisode was too contrived, particularly the motives (including Goren's -- what was he so angry about?). Goren was projecting his failure of protecting his friend (Eames) from his mentor (Gage) onto the Schill/TJ/Kiera situation. His anger was just too way over the top from how we normally see Goren. That was the major problem with this episode for me. nosee

That's good, nosee. I think you may be right about Goren's motivation for the attack on Schill.
Yet, the writer's went too far having Goren react so violently against a weaker, older man. It's what a bully would do, not Goren.

I gave this one an A-... good but could have been better. So glad that Goren was not so moody. I wish that he had a more animated talk with Schill. It was more subdued but it wasn't VDO's fault. The writing on that scene (where he hurt his hand) was odd. Goren always has a good set up with his interrogation's, but this was too slow for me. Goren hurting Schill's hand was more like a "24" move. Jack Bauer would have broken his whole hand and each finger to get the answer he wanted. That is why I didn't think this was a Goren move, but more Logan in some ways.

The whole edisode was too contrived, particularly the motives (including Goren's -- what was he so angry about?). I know this comment probably belongs in the episode discussion thread - but I am out of time and have to hit the road! - but isn't anger one of the stages of grief? Maybe Bobby is still in process over his Mom's passing and the reminders of his mentor pushed him a bit farther... Just a thought... (Hopefully I will be better able to expound on this when I am back home with better Internet access! *crossingfingers*) I gave the episode an A - I liked it. caseyswife

Excellent theory, caseyswife! That would make sense. Could also be displaced anger about his Dad, who was a fake, a boozer, and was never there for his mother....

Bobby has been very controlled in these first few episodes of the season, but there's probably a lot boiling underneath. I agree that there's a lot of anger, and it would make sense it would be directed at men like Schill.
