When the husband of a wealthy hotelier discovers his wife dead in her bathtub, Goren and Eames investigate. Evidence at the scene convinces Goren the death was not a suicide, and Eames notices the smooth appearance of the victim's skin and markings on her face as possible indicators of botox use. The victim's husband also rejects the suicide option as something his wife was incapable of doing.
The detectives question the victim's daughter and the daughter's fiancé who provide alibis for their whereabouts at the time of death. The Medical Examiner confirms Goren's and Eames' suspicions that the death was not the result of suicide and that the victim had used botox.
Following the trail of the botox leads the detectives to the owner of the beauty salon at the hotel owned by the victim, and he in turn points the detectives toward one of the cosmeticians who had a private exclusive clientele on the side. The cosmetician mentions another possible suspect, the victim's hotel rival who had designs on purchasing the victim's hotel.
Goren and Eames have to unravel the mystery of the cosmetician's missing botox and the discovery of the existence of incriminating photos before they realize who really had the most to gain by the victim's death. When they set up a trap to snare the guilty party who engineered the victim's murder, an unexpected and unforeseen turn of events surprises the detectives. The outcome is especially troubling for Goren who never saw it coming.
