Well, the nominations were announced today, and once again, LOCI's left in the dust. Not a single nomination. I don't get it. Best drama nominees:
CSI The Sopranos Joan of Arcadia 24 The West Wing
IMO, The West Wing is waaaay past its prime and shouldn't be on the list. And LOCI is a much stronger drama than either 24 or CSI. As for lead actors, nominees are:
James Gandolfini for The Sopranos Anthony LaPaglia for Without a Trace Martin Sheen for The West Wing James Spader for The Practice Keifer Sutherland for 24
VD'O is at least as strong, if not stronger, in the role of Goren as any of the nominated actors.
In the writing categories, four episodes of The Sopranos and the pilot for Deadwood were nominated. I've been a fan of The Sopranos since the beginning, but this wasn't the best of seasons, and while I tried to like Deadwood, it left me bored. There are several LOCI episodes I can think of that were better crafted and far more interesting in plot and character than any of the nominated episode.
So, shut out of the Emmys again. What gives???

What gives is that LOCI isn't a "hot' or "stylish" show. It's part of the L&O brand, and I think there's an anti-Dick Wolf sentiment in the industry.
The Emmies are the most dubious of entertainment awards. One Emmy for Tony Randall's brilliant Felix Unger? No nominations for BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER? How seriously can you take these?
At least Tony Shalhoub and Mariska Hargarity got nominated.

I don't even watch award shows anymore. They're all so .......irrelevant. It's what's making money or looks good or who is dying/hot/overlooked for too long.
But still. It would be nice if VDO got at least a nom. Not surprised though.
Yay for Anthony LaPaglia though. I like him.
