The 2004 Nobel Prize in Medicine has gone to two U.S. researchers for their work in identifying how the brain recognizes good and bad smells.

Though previously the awards went to "Science that cannot or should not be reproduced" this year it's "stuff that makes you laugh, then makes you think."
