Marianne Jean-Baptiste's character on WITHOUT A TRACE was revealed to have a heart condition. Maybe she will segue over to LOCI?
What about Lorraine Toussaint? Instead of bringing her back to reprise the role of Shambala Green she could be brought in for Logan's new partner.
And yes, Viola Davis did a great job in "Badge". I don't know if they would bring her back, but she would be a good candidate.

I know others don't want a really beautiful woman, but how about Vivica A. Fox?
ETA, or better yet, Vanessa L. Williams. Those eyes!

no way, jose - I want a gritty copper to be the next profiler. Give me wrinkles and a lived in look to her - now that's a cop.

"Give me wrinkles"... hee hee! Heck yea, I want a tough woman to work opposite Logan
Someone, who I can believe...not just by her performance, but by her "look" that she is knowledgable and can pull off the hard-as-nails MCS cop and profiler.
And it doesn't mean she can't be beautiful under the hard exterior.. some women with wrinkles are very lovely! *grin* Like Jacqueline Bisset.. she's in her 60s and still a knock-out!

I agree, Metella. I want a war horse female Sherlock. My ideal would be someone like Sigourney Weaver or Susan Sarandon. Tough, brainy, sexy. Someone who worked her way up to Major Case at a time when it was even MORE difficult for women in the NYPD. Someone whose Sherlockian crime solving abilities earned her the grudging respect and admiration of the big boys.

Here's the release from the NUTS, complete with a little bio of the character from Rene Balcer UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- May 24, 2005 -- Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") joins the cast of NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as Detective Mike Logan's (Chris Noth) partner, it was announced by creator/executive producer Dick Wolf. Sciorra plays Detective Carolyn Barek, who, along with Logan, alternate with current series stars Vincent D'Onofrio (Detective Robert Goren) and Kathryn Erbe (Detective Alex Eames). The two Major Case Squad detective teams will split the caseloads, with each fronting 11 episodes for the series' fifth season. In addition, Jamey Sheridan (Capt. James Deakins) and Courtney B. Vance (A.D.A. Ron Carver) are returning and are slated to appear with both detective teams in all the episodes. Law & Order: Criminal Intent airs Sundays, 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC. Sciorra, nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Tony Soprano's mistress Gloria Trillo on "The Sopranos," also appeared as a defense attorney in the premiere episode of Wolf's Law & Order: Trial By Jury. She has starred in numerous films including "Cop Land," "Jungle Fever," "What Dreams May Come", "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle", "True Love", and "Reversal of Fortune". Her upcoming film releases include "Twelve and Holding" and Sidney Lumet's "Find Me Guilty". "Annabella is an extremely talented and versatile actress, who has that rare combination of beauty, sex appeal, power and humor. I also anticipate she will have terrific chemistry with Chris," Wolf commented. Executive producer Rene Balcer added, "Detective Carolyn Barek is a brilliant criminal profiler who ascended from the hardscrabble streets of Brooklyn's Cobble Hill to the highest ranks of the NYPD and beyond, spending two post-9/11 years with the FBI. Barek is as surprising, intuitive and razor-sharp as the talented actress who plays her." Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Dick Wolf, Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.

I personally do not want her to be that smart. I want Goren to be the only super-smart one. It's his brillance and quirkiness that sets him apart from the rest. I think they should give her a different set of qualities, and not make her a female version of Goren.

I hope they don't have a copy cat version of Goren and Eames. We have one, we don't need another.
It's only June and I'm already filled with dread!!! LOL!!!
