Wow, I noticed that when I tried to post an acronym for "In My Humble Opinion" it changed to the words for "in my voice of false modesty".
Seems like a subtle hint and definite deterrent to false politeness. Not that I ever use that acronym, myself. ;D
What is the accepted use (or not) of such acronyms here?
Thanks moderators for the clear presentation and orderly format of the board.

I was posting, and laughing, about this on the thread the incident took place at the same time you wrote this question. Yes, it's a deterrent, it's also just a funny prank Hathaway pulled on those who use that particular acronym. It is also our way of saying no one's opinion should be humbled by anyone, especially by the owner of that opinion. After all, an opinion is inherent to it's owner and cannot be wrong. Uneducated and bias, sure. Go ahead and post your uneducated and biased thoughts, you may get some replies with the intent of educating or swaying you, but never to humble you. That will not be tolerated, and Hathaway did a good (and humorous) job of assuring we don't have to see that pesky "H" interfering with anyone's "O" To the rest of your question; that is the only thing on our censor list. You can post anything else you want, so long as you follow the FAQ

dominicaflor: it was a " definite deterrent to false politeness"
I'm just thrilled to see it actually had a chance to show off.
criminal mastermind; shall we "chip-n-dale" ourselves? "no, no, no, YOURE the funniest moderator" "oh, no, no, no, YOURE the best moderator" "but YOURE the most wonderful" "but YOURE the coolest"
I'm thinking about sabotaging some more false humility statements ........

Bwah!
Okay, I just added another one that I personally can't stand.
Y-M-M-V = you may disagree, but I'm not listening
If you posters think of any good ones, PM me or Hathaway and if we like it we'll add it to the list.

I love the designations! Very cute, the first couple. I had thought it was dependent on how long a member has been registered, so you cleared that up for me.

I have noticed some posting lately regarding login trouble.
The most common reason for login problems is using the wrong user name and or password. User names and passwords are case sensitive. So, make sure you are using upper and lower case letters where needed and do not add spaces.
If you are sure you are using the right case and are still having trouble logging in, you can contact Hathaway and I here on this thread, via PM, or by using the contact page on Criminal-Intent.us and we'll figure out what's going on.

This has happend to me twice this week. I've logged in and posted. But then, it will show at the bottom that I'm still logged on, but at the top it says "Log In" or "Register" and I can't post. I have to log in again. Strange!

I have not heard of this happening to anyone before. Let me know if it keeps happening and I will contact the ProBoards staff to report the incidence. Right now there are about a half billion ProBoards active, and as the system is expanded and upgraded, temporary glitches and shutdowns in the system are bound to happen. When they become a problem, be sure to let me know and I'll do what I can to resolve them

The thing Nikki described happened to me, as well -- I think it was the first time I posted. I was having so much trouble staying on-line that I just figured it was another problem with my computer. If it happens again I'll let you know.

Observer - welcome, try just clicking on the 10 most recent posts at the bottom if you are having trouble getting into and out each individual thread ......
I hope the trouble was just connected to one day and you get to plug in here as much as before. (actually as much as you used to about 6 months ago as you were quiet for a while there even before the hoopla started)

Hi, I have a poll question: On some boards when you vote in a poll, when you log in you can see the choice that you voted for. I forgot which eps I voted for. Oops. Is there any way for an individual to see his/her votes? Thanks, D.

Hi, I have a posting question:
I'm in process writing a longer (but relevant) post that crosses themes on various episodes. I could place it under one episode heading, but is there a more appropriate place for cross-episode or thematic analysis posts?
Thanks,
D.
