From an NBC Media Village news release--is this one a current headline rip or what?
SHIBBOLETH March 27, 2005 @ 9PM Eastern
LINK RITUALISTIC SLAYING OF WOMAN TO PREVIOUS MURDER SPREE BY NOTORIOUS 'BBJ' KILLER -- Detectives Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) fear they are facing a past fugitive serial killer who has re-surfaced after a half-naked woman is found murdered in a similar manner used by the taunting "BBJ" killer whose spree began 16 years ago and then abruptly halted. As forensic evidence points to a troubled young man (as Keith, guest star Paul Sparks), Goren believes the police might have arrested the wrong suspect -- or at least not the one responsible for the initial slayings. Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B. Vance also star. TV-14

"Say Shibboleth"--story from the Old Testament (I'm awful at chapter/verse) about when the tribes of Israel were fighting with each other. To prevent spies, anybody crossing the border had to say "Shibboleth"--it means "ear of corn" but that wasn't important. Due to accents, people from each tribe would pronounce it differently (I believe it was Benjamin they were wary of, and if memory serves correctly the Benjamin accent would come out as "Sssiboleth".) Referenced in an episode of "West Wing"--also by that title I believe. So, the episode will probably involve some sort of testing to see if people really are what they say they are.
Just thought I'd put that out there. Not for nothing did I win all that candy in Sunday School.

PS: Just realized I'm going to miss tomorrow's new episode due to rehearsal! Darn it! Oh well, that's why VCRs have timers.#nosmileys

Ear of Corn? I'm pretty sure corn is native to the America's, so that doesn't make sense. The rest of the story sounds familiar, though, and I suspect you're right about the title's meaning for the episode [ETA: I googled it, it's "ear of grain" very close! ]

I found this from www.wikipedia.com : The Hebrew word shibboleth literally means "ear of wheat". In the Bible, pronunciation of this word was used to distinguish members of a group whose dialect lacked a "sh" sound from members of a group whose dialect included such a sound. The consequences of getting it wrong were fatal: And the Gileadites seized the passages of the Jordan before the Ephraimites; and it was so, that when those Ephraimites who had escaped said, "Let me go over," that the men of Gilead said unto him, "Art thou an Ephraimite?" If he said, "Nay," then said they unto him, "Say now 'Shibboleth.'" And he said "Sibboleth," for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him and slew him at the passages of the Jordan; and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand. (Judges 12:5-6, King James Version of the Bible) Today, "shibboleth" refers to words and phrases that can be used in a similar way—to distinguish members of a group from outsiders. The word is also sometimes used in a broader sense to mean specialized jargon, the proper use of which reveals speakers as members of a particular group or subculture. For example, people who regularly use words like "stfnal," "grok," "filk," and "gafiate" in conversation are likely members of science fiction fandom. Shibboleths can also be customs or practices, such as male circumcision.

NicoleMarie, thanks for the CI schedule for the remainder of Season 4 but...I am unable to access the information from the link you provided. All I get is a page of links for various ads and sponsors. Is there a more direct link to the schedule information, or am I just not getting it together today? *which happens sometimes after a long extended work shift*
One other note--a cautionary tale from browsing the other CI fan sites. "Malignant" is scheduled for broadcast on NBC at 10PM Eastern--not 9PM--on Saturday March 19. This info confirmed from a check of the NBC and Media Village websites.

Hi Techguy. No, you're not losing it. LOL! The link should have read www.THEfutoncritic.com . I corrected it too. I recieved this information from another board, and posted here for us. Well, the only solid thing I could find was the season final air-date. I cannot find the other air-dates. There seems to be no other places on the site to look either. Now I think I don't have it together! I'm going back over there and asking where the heck they found those air-dates! Maybe you can get in there and find the info, I give up.

NicoleMarie, thanks anyway but I still can't find the upcoming CI schedule on the alternate link. I guess I'll just have to take the air dates in your earlier post on faith. Maybe you can ask the person you got the info from to provide you with a better (more precise) access link.

Dang it! They are already messing with the air times of "Malignant"! I swear, they better not bump it all together! *grumble* Wow, 6 more left eh? So "Shibboleth" BBK killer is like the "RDK" killer from the SVU episode...and ripped from the real-life serial killer with an initial name that I can't remember at his moment? *brain stall*

Sorry for the brain fart on "Shibboleth", sickness, fatigue, and in a cold stadium for 3-4 hours a night for a week do not coherence make. And I forgot to set the VCR timer for "Roe" or whatever it was, farkle.

For NicoleMarie and anyone else interested in the schedule for the remaining Season 4 CI episodes:
If you go to www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=calendar&id=home&view=whatsnew you will see dates by month in the upper right hand corner of the page.
If you then go to March 2005, April 2005, and May 2005, you can check what shows will be on Sunday nights in those months for all the networks.
I already did the grunt work--the schedule NicoleMarie posted is as stated, assuming the futon critic is correct about the dates.

Thanks Techguy for that link. I will bookmark it for later use.. Never saw that site before. Looks like CI doesn't have much for April. ...Unless NBC changes the schedule around half a dozen times like they usually do just to mess us up. lol. Thanks again Shadow

So, if we aren't getting much during April, as far as new epsiodes...are they just planning to let the ratings tank during that month? Or will they placate us with re-runs of S3 and if we're lucky, some S 2 eps? *grumble*

As someone on another board suggested, NBC might be saving the last of the new CI episodes for May because it is a sweeps month.
As for reruns from Seasons 2 or 3, who knows what NBC has planned? We'll just have to wait and see.
