Saw this play recently. One of the actresses, Margaret Daly, is supposed to have been on CI, but I only found her as a judge on L&O. There were several New York actors and I recommend this play if it comes to your city.
There were a lot of mothers & daughters (of course), and the daughters were trying to "see" the play since they have to read it this semester. The teenage girl next to us discussed this quite a bit.
It seems like there has been a lot of interest in returning to the classics in theatre and film. One of my favorites was Clueless. And, of course, movie remakes are in - just saw Pride & Prejudice (prefer Colin Firth).
I love the ripped from the headlines aspect of all the L&Os, but some of the writers do a great job of incorporating a "classics" feel to many of the episodes.
I can't think of an L&O episode that reflected Jane Eyre, but it would be a nice surprise.
