I can't helpl it... an astronaut named Nelson just gives me bad "I Dream of Jeannie" flashbacks... but keeping my fingers crossed for a good solid episode!!

Well it does look like Renewal will be the season finale if we go by USA's listings. I hope (if there is a next season) that it will start with a Logan/Whatever partner he has at the time episode so we end with a Goren/Eames episode next season (as it will most likely be the last if this isn't the last)

BOMBSHELL Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 9:00PM
FORMER STRIPPER-TURNED MODEL MYSTERIOUSLY DIES DAYS AFTER HER YOUNG SON MEETS THE SAME FATE; KRISTY SWANSON, DAVID CROSS AND PETER BOGDANOVICH GUEST-STAR -- When the son of Lorelei Mailer (guest star Kristy Swanson, "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer") -- famous stripper-turned-model and widow of a 90-year-old billionaire -- drops dead on a dance floor, Detectives Logan (Chris Noth) and Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson) question Lorelei and her companion Ronnie Chase (guest star David Cross). Just back from the hospital after having a baby girl, Lorelei is devastated by her son's death and mysteriously dies days later. Lawsuits over the family fortune make Ronnie an easy suspect -- but DNA results may have the last word. Director Peter Bogdanovich ("The Last Picture Show") also guest-stars. Eric Bogosian also stars.
ENDGAME Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 9:00PM
DEATH-ROW PRISONER LEADS DETECTIVES ON WILD CHASE OF UNSOLVED CASES THAT TURN PERSONAL; RITA MORENO, ROY SCHEIDER AND TONY GOLDWYN GUEST-STAR -- As death row prisoner Mark Ford Brady (guest star Roy Scheider, "Jaws") nears his end, he asks to see Detective Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) in hopes to extend his sentence and leads him to hidden scrapbooks which chronicle unsolved cases and victims. When Detectives Eames (Kathryn Erbe) and Goren uncover the identities of the women and victims in Brady's scrapbooks, they come across a familiar picture -- Goren's mother, Frances (Oscar and Emmy Award-winning guest star Rita Moreno). Through the help of his brother, Frank (guest star Tony Goldwyn), Goren learns a troubling secret about his mother and deals with her numbered days. Eric Bogosian also stars.
RENEWAL Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 9:00PM
POLICE RECRUIT FOUND MURDERED AFTER HEROIC SAVE WHILE DETECTIVE LOGAN GETS TOO CLOSE TO A CASE -- A police recruit named a hero after breaking up a bodega robbery is found murdered soon after. Detectives Logan (Chris Noth) and Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson) initially suspect it had something to do with the recruit's heroism, but discover his girlfriend has suddenly gone missing. Meanwhile, Detective Logan goes on a date with a pretty woman he met from his building, but gets too close to a case when she stands him up for the second date and is found dead nearby. Detective Wheeler is called abroad to oversee a past case she worked on while with the joint task force and Detective Eames (Kathryn Erbe) steps in to help out. Eric Bogosian also stars.

Well, at least we now know that Mr. Scheider is not playing Wheeler's dad.

Could it be Frank/Michael is Bobby's half brother? Same mother different father? OOOOOhhh.....the mystery deepens.

If Goren discovers that either or both of the people he believed to be his biological parents are in fact not his parents, this news would be devastating. Such a revelation means there will be no resolution and closure at season's end, just the realization his life has been based on lies and deception, leading to more questions, more personal drama for him to seek out the truth next season?
I hope a certain someone doesn't turn out to be biologically related to him.

OK, Frances Goren was a victim of Roy Scheider's. A victim of rape? So, that means that either Scheider's character is really Bobby's father or Frank's father? That is seriously soapy. It could be that Frances was simply a crime victim of this man years ago, and that there is no paternity issue involved. However, why would Frank know something that Bobby doesn't? That's right Techguy, somehow Nicole is supposed to be involved. Good to know that it's in a "Slither" type of appearance, no Olivia in the credits. Guess she's in the scrapbook too? Would they choose a man that looks nothing like VDO to be his father? A man about 7 inches shorter with a large Roman nose? It's bad enough Moreno looks nothing like him. Season finale is on Tuesday, May 22nd? My TVGuide, the article about May sweeps, has it for Wednesday, May23rd.

I already half-joked about the irony of Roy "Jaws" Scheider going on another great white whale hunt involving the UO and needing a bigger boat...

In Renewal, Detective Wheeler is called abroad to work on an old case....Could that abroad be France? Could this be the tie in with a crossover episode with The French CI? Is Wheeler returning with Vincent Perez? Oui, Oui.
A poster on another board suggested such, and it sounds like a plausibe idea.

Holly, you didn't miss anything. Shippy is not referencing this specific episode, just a general statement of what I think would sink CI. There's another thread about this somewhere on the board.
DonnaJo, I like the idea of Wheeler going to France to establish a "French Connection"--which, in addition to "Jaws" is another reference to Roy Scheider too. ;D
