Due to timing I have to catch my L&O on TNT reruns, as I'm often doing homework int he middle of the week. Lenny, well, I love Briscoe, period. Ed Green is also quite good, he and Lenny are a neat combination are good, I enjoy them. Of course Van Buren's always been a neat, take-no-crap kinda lady.
I've never been a fan of McCoy, much too self-reighteous and a bit of a creep. What do all those women see in him? Although "Aftershock" at least showed where he came from, and every now and then we get to see his nicer side: "Aww, the jerk-SOB can be sympathetic."
I don't care for Serena, she really is kind of dull. Although she's the first blonde on the show, at least the character isn't stupid. But is there any personality? There've been one or two instances where she's made references to certain religions that hints she's done some research or at least has a background. But she's just THERE, no real character. Of all the assistants after Claire, she's the one Jack would be most likely to hook up with, because she's got those stars in her eyes, eager young space cadet type attitude.
Everyone talks about Fred Dalton THompson. Admittedly one or two of his phrases leave you going "huh?" BUt not nearly as many as people complain about, lord knows I've grown up hearing similar things. He's a neat character who gives an interesting perspective. Besides, as every other Southerner on the show has been either a Klan lawyer or a beauty queen ditz, he's a great step up.
But the latest seasons just seem kinda, ehh, whatever. SOme episodes have been very good and thought-provoking, but most are just sort of--take 'em or leave 'em.

Interesting news about Bloomburg, Nikki. Is he just a super fan of the show or looking for popularity, I wonder?
I did know Rohm would make the record, but I heard she probably won't sign on again. I hope not, anyway. She's sooo boring. It's not the character that I don't like, though, it's the way she's played. Serena is actually as likable as Claire, maybe even more so. Rohm is just isn't up to the job of bringing out the emotion Serena is meant to have. She looks like even more of a schmuck next to SW. If he leaves the show, I might have to go with him.
Catbird, I don't know if it makes me feel better or worse that you don't get Arthur either, but at least he has a sense of humor. Even so, I still miss Adam.

Maybe they are just going for authencity by bringing in the real mayor. L&O's had Mayor Guilani and his former wife on a few episodes before. Wednesday's episode was new. It was quite good. It started out by a boy finding a severed hand. Then more parts were found. The only missing items were the head and heart. Jack mentioned Adam Schiff. Turns out the *bad guy* was brought up on murder charges some 12 years earlier by Adam for the murder of his wife. Her body was never found (and still hadn't) and the guy got off free. I think McCoy was quite good. ETA: "Because the mayor will have a speaking role, the Screen Actors Guild requires that he be paid $678 for his appearance, said Kendall Chambers, the business representative for SAG, who works with "Law & Order." (Mr. Bloomberg is considered a principal, not a backup, which fetches only $115. If he performs any stunts, his rate will remain unchanged.) Mr. Bloomberg will donate his earnings to the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, Mr. Skyler said." (NY Post...March 4, 2004)

Yeah, I watched the ep. It was okay. I couldn't believe that "not guilty" verdict at first.
I'd rate this one with "Mis-labled." It seemed like they were going for shock value with a gruesome crime to draw in viewers. Does this show really want the type of viewers who would only tune in for that? Let them watch Fear Factor and hopefully try some of the stunts resulting in fewer of them being able to contribute to the gene pool.

Well, this really sucks! www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4607951/From TVGuide.com - www.tvguide.com/news/entertainment/CHING-CHING: There's bad news and even more bad news awaiting Law & Order fans this morning. The bad news: A major character is leaving NBC's long-running drama. And the even more bad news: It ain't Elisabeth Rohm's Serena Southerlyn. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jerry Orbach — who spent 12 years on the beat as Det. Lennie Briscoe — will depart the show at the end of the season. However, there's buzz that the veteran actor may take a role on the upcoming fourth installment of the franchise, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, which will follow a criminal case from arraignment to the jury's verdict.

All I have to say is that if there's no Lennie and then there's no McCoy, then I'm definitely not watching the show again!

well now I have to watch the new one. As much as I don't like the idea of losing Lennie, I must admit the idea of losing Jack is much worse. I'd love to see Serena go bye-bye, though, and there has been some talk of Rohm leaving. This really makes me wonder if Ed's new partner will be male or female. Since they've got Goren and Stabler working with women, my guess is they'd like to stick with a male/male duo, which allows for inside jokes and comments a male partner just wouldn't say to his female partner. This also sort of forces them to partner Jack with a female ADA to keep the show PC. I wouldn't mind if Serena and Lennie were both replaced by men, myself, but I know other women would not appreciate that much. Any guesses or comments on that?

that was a humorously written article. Cute.
I never clicked with Jack; I think I would actually watch it more if Jack were gone. No one can be that self-righteous and have so many unethical problems that he is called right out on and has to overcome. I just don't like his characteristics anyway.
So far, I have liked all the cops, haven't liked the female head DA, haven't liked the one blond assistant DA; liked the other chick assistants, and pretty much like the way they parade out most of the crimes.

alright mettela i have got to strongly disagree with you on this one.
i like jack, i do agree he can be annyoing sometimes, but i lke him and hte fact that unlike some characters you see around he stands for things(granted one might always agree with what he stands for but atleast he stands for things wether they are right or worng). i dislike the way he sometimes goes about things and he can at tiems be a little sanctamionous but on the whole i like him. i agree with your take on the ethical issues he faces all the time.
i also like serena(not my favoirute ada but she is a good character, not perfect but good). ialso like all the previous adas(ross gave me the shits at times particularly towrds the end of her run on law and order and clarie was just to oppionated at tiems for her own good and she was not all that discrete some times) as for abbie i liked her most of the time alothg she was a defiante fasisct type at times( honestly some much for civil rights she was a little excessvie at times).
as for the police chracter i like them all, birscoe is great idid not care for his predcressors much, as for his partners(mike was okay but he was way to reckless at times in the way he handle things and for crying out loud great carer move punching out some politicain enve if the guy was a creep and he deserved it mike was really not using his brain at the time), rey wa good( ijust wish they would have let up the problems with his family a bit, honestly the guy seemed to be out the house every second epsidoe and in somebody elses bed teying work out how to get his wife to forgive him, it was to much). ed is possibly the best so far, he is good apart form his bad temper and the lack of background chracter.
i totally agree with you about nora lewin her character was preatty badly done on all levels she was boring, tedious, very unintresting. arthur and adam are both so much better( even if arthur has an annoying habbit of speaking in riddles that nobody else can understand).
reagrs rom.

oh, yah Rom; I think it is good to see a character take a stand on something .....
just seeing Jack taking a stand on EVERYTHING .... cracks me up. He can't care enough about every issue to risk his job over nearly every case. Whew, how tiring is that ......
But, I give you ROM, that this is TV and therefore the trait is exaggerated.
I just simply never clicked with his style/character.

YES METTELA jack having a stand on everything is sometiems a crack up(and notto to good on the brain iam sure, to much stress). and you are right tv does often tend to exagerate traits take goren for instances( iam sure in real life people have good a good sense of smell but gorens is at times to good either that or he has been sniffing to many dead people). oh by the way when are going to get back to me with you version of eames(i am still waiting).
