Thanks for the links to these terrific interviews. Mr. Bogosian impresses me every time I see an interview with him. I confess I'm glad to hear that the show may be going back a bit to its early days. And it's interesting to learn that Mr. D'Onofrio does scare him occasionally.

Wow what a great interview he is ! He answers the reporters questions with clarity and substance. I am so impressed. I have seen some written interviews but few video interviews this good. He seems like a real quality person. A man who would be interesting person to sit and have a glass of wine with some time. Very sincere.
I too am glad to hear that LOCI is going back to its roots. Maybe we will see him in more location shots with Kate and Vincent too. Sounds like it he likes it.

Yes, my thanks too. Bogosian is always intelligent and engrossing. And apparently energetic. Aside from 16 CI episodes this fall and winter, Bogosian is also among the actors who will participate in the LAByrinth Theatre's (NYC) new season. www.theatermania.com/content/news.cfm/story/15515A new book, new plays, an alternate seat on the SAG national board -- when does he relax? AL P.S. Wouldn't you love to have him write a CI script?

How refreshing to listen to an interviewer who asks intelligent, pertinent questions! I don't know her name, but American interviewers could certainly learn from her!
Mr. Bogosian's answers were pretty interesting too! The LOCI set sounds like a fascinating place to work - for the main characters, the guest cast, the extras, the directors, the crews, and the writers, each using their individual, professional talent to create the best show on television.
Mr. Bogosian leads a diversely creative life and is happily married with children. Where he could be obnoxiously egotistic, he comes off as a genuine person. To his credit, I still don't like Danny Ross.

Er, see, this "interviewer" is most likely a young Channel 10 PA, reading from a sheet of questions prepared by the Channel 10 Marketing Department for this Channel 10 website promo in support of a US program aired on Channel 10. A structured Q and A. Whether or not Eric Bogosian reviewed the questions ahead of time is a matter of conjecture, but I'd bet the the farm that Marketing people would have sent over a copy before the taping . Doesn't make EB any less interesting or credible - he's fantastic. Questions were nicely written, too. But it was a set piece.

Use your Marketing Dept. to help you prepare for an interview.

Er, no see. I have made my point badly. My point was: listen for the Marketing Department element. Australians learn from Americans all the time re marketing. We have nothing to teach the USA in the realm of salesmanship. You are the very best.
You also are experts in disguisng it. We are terrible at this sort of stuff.
I am surprised - and alarmed - that you think our lame effort is good. Good journalism is not Gunthy Renker

And my point was that I liked the interview, compared to the many I have read/heard from American interviewers. I don't consider celebrity interviews to be good journalism in any case, so nothing to be alarmed about.

The interviewing journalist prepared for the interviews herself, which i think can be heard in the way she speaks in the interviews. susan1212 is correct in saying that Australian media do better interviews, as they are well thought out. American interviews are quick, interrupting, and never asking the questions that fan` want. Im not sure why you have a disregard for Australian media dragonsback, or marketing, im sure each can learn from the other.

Caitlen, I have a high regard for my fellow Oz journalists, and I have a high regard for Oz marketing (well, the first is true ) Obviously, I made my point very badly. I try again now. As well as the interviewer prepared - and note that I did say I liked the questions - am I correct in saying that the interiewer in the Bogosian piece works for Channel 10? If she doesn't, then I defer to you, and you need read no further, because I am wrong. If she does work for the Network, then I stand by my first post. Re skilled American promo interviews. I point to the many USA "interviews" with LOCI cast and crew. They are excellent. Also I believe that the 'interveiwer' is excised from these videos, and I think that is a better, more credible way to do these promotional chitchats. The material is as revealing - sometimes more so - without the carefully structured (and vetted, I am sure) questions that try to suggest a journalist with no paycheck strings attached is doing the interview. PS: IMO ,in Oz we don't have the quantity of terrible bottom-of-the-bog small screen journos that plague America, it's true. But neither do we have the depth of quality at the top of the pyramid. You may disagree, Caitlen, but I think Andrew Denton is the best - and only - interviewer who matches the best that America has to offer. When anyone from LOCI appears on his "Enough Rope", I'll be glued to the screen. One further observation - IMO, again - Oz imay suffer from the tyranny of distance, but when it comes to celeb interviews, my gawd, do we reap the benefits! The Far Side of the World - and we speak English! And we don't tend to stalk! And we are really happy to see you here, Mr/Ms Famous Person! And we don't try to "force errors". We keep our killer tennis instincts on the court. Relax, you're on the moon here. Of course the visiting celebs just talk and talk and talk. It must be such a relief to be among us. Little do they know ;D In the case of Eric Bogosian: I think you could shove a rock in front of this man with a Post-It Note stuck on it asking " So what do you think of the sun rising in the East?", and he would have an interesting answer.
