Hi,
Name is John, new member, long time fan of the show.
Looking forward to some good conversations.
2 questions to start, first one may be so simple as to be stupid but where are the titles to the various episodes found? I've watched and rewatched just about every episode at one or another and have never seen a title broadcast. So where are you guys finding them and am I an idiot for not seeing something really obvious?
Second question, I have a theory that the show was started as a story arc mainly about the Goren character and was later expanded to include more. I think that the whole mental breakdown for lack of a better term of Goren and his recovery was really what the show was supposed to be about. In rewatching some of the older episodes, I'm lucky in that a local station in Los Angeles shows them 5 nights a week, anyway, I've noticed that there is a subtle regression in Goren's character, the way he acts, speaks, interacts, etc. all leading up to what I call his breakdown. Am I projecting here or maybe on the right track? I can remember very distinctly reading an interview with Mr. D'Onofrio when he took the job and he stated that it was a 5 year gig for him, now it's gone past that I know but I think he was referring to the arc of his character when he talked about the time he signed on for.
If true, it would be almost groundbreaking as most American television shows, even the better ones, seem to be written as they go along without a whole lot of attention to the idea of telling a particular character's story in some sort of planned way.
Anyway, probably too much to put in my first post. Let me just add that I live and work in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry. Below the line as they say. Divorced with a couple of kids, 2 dogs, and 4 chickens living in the back yard. ( the chickens, not the kids or the dogs...)
