I can't say enough good things about this film. Colin Firth richly deserves all the acclaim and honors he receiving, but all the performances are fantastic.

FINALLY got to see this movie! Hubby and I hired a sitter and caught a matinee. It was such a treat to get out and see a film in a movie theatre that wasn't animated and didn't require 3-D glasses! (Those are fun, but...) Anyway, Patcat I agree, it deserved all the award nominations! Helena Bonham Carter looked lovely. I would love to wear pearls, gloves, and little hats with veils. :sigh: Guess I was born in the wrong time period.

I saw this film yesterday with my Mom and my daughter. It was wonderful! The two hours flew by, and words can't describe how invested one gets with all of the characters, especially Colin Firth as the reluctant king.
It well deserves to win best picture, and Firth as best actor. I haven't seen The Social Network, but I believe that it is it's only real competition for BP.

I read somewhere someone described this film as an expression of man's humanity to his fellow man, and I couldn't agree more. Maybe my age is showing, but I'm really pleased this movie won Best Picture over The Social Network. Colin Firth's performance as King George VI is amazing, also very deserving of the Best Actor Oscar.
