Just found this posted at the USA site. Not sure of the source, but looks legit.
USA NETWORK LAUNCHES NEW SEASONS OF “LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT” AND “IN PLAIN SIGHT” PREMIERING SUNDAY, MAY 1
[Press Release] Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe Reprise their Beloved Roles in LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT for its Tenth and Final Season
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – February 3, 2011 – USA Network, the #1 network in 2010 for an unprecedented five consecutive years running, is kicking off its spring lineup with two of its popular original series, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and IN PLAIN SIGHT. LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT returns for its final season with eight all new episodes and IN PLAIN SIGHT will air its fourth season with 13 episodes. Both will premiere on Sunday, May 1, at 9/8c and 10/9c, respectively.
The final season of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT features the long-anticipated return of Detectives Goren (D’Onofrio) and Eames (Erbe) to the Major Case Squad. Terminated for insubordination a year ago, Detective Robert Goren has been reunited with his long-time partner Alex Eames at the behest of new Major Case Captain William Hannah, a friend of Goren’s since Academy days. In addition to plunging into colorful, dangerous mysteries, Goren has mandatory sessions with brilliant police psychologist Robyn Widrow that will ultimately help him unravel his tortured past, and to chart a course in the right direction. Each week, viewers will be taken through sizzling, sexy episodes of murder and provocative themes, such as: a beautiful female banker whose sole client was the Catholic Church; an adventuresome rogue who may be the country’s best cyber-warrior; a woman who was blackmailing a wealthy, tabloid-fodder “bad boy.”
Why does the phrase "sizzling, sexy episodes of murder and provocative themes" bother me?

Just found this posted at the USA site. Not sure of the source, but looks legit. Why does the phrase "sizzling, sexy episodes of murder and provocative themes" bother me? It bothers me, too, because I don't find murder to be "sizzling" or "sexy." Not sure what to think of Goren being psychoanalyzed - I mean, he probably needs it, but I'm wondering how it will play out.

May sounds good, but I've no idea when the rest of us will get to see the show. NBC doesn't have LOCI in their list of shows (current or upcoming), and CTV (which is the Canadian network that airs LOCI) doesn't have any updates.
I agree with the 'sizzing, sexy' note... I read the article and had to pause at that. I love the idea of Goren meeting with a psychiatrist but I don't feel we need to see that on air. I feel, if we see his personal life on screen, that they just stick to the old ways, give us a few hints and subtleties with the occasional comment by Goren.
I also wonder what's in store for Eames, and of course, what they were doing for work, on their year off.
I am however, trying to remain hopeful however about the Captain. It could mean someone that Goren can be friends with but I hope it doesn't come across like his character is being forced down our throats. If its a friendship like he had with Deakins, I'll like it.

;D I'M SO EXCITED!!! Finally some news! Sounds kind of like the "Sopranos". Agree with Alliehalliwell- hope they don't concentrate TOO much on Goren's therapy. I would really love to see some personal scenes with Eames. Maybe meet her nephew and Johnny Eames. I'm glad Goren won't have a captain like Ross was in the beginning. Maybe they will have a relationship like Nichols and Ross had. Any word on the actors playing the psychologist or new captain? And the "sexy" description? I think that is just a word USA throws around a lot. I would prefer "smart" and "sophisticated". Yay Yippy Skippy! Doing happy dance!

There are a couple of things I like about the overview the press release gives us. I am concerned about the psychiatrist aspect, for a number of reasons. First, I'm not really in the mood to revisit in any kind of depth, Seasons 6 and 7 angst. Second, we only have 8 episodes. If the psychiatrist sessions are maybe a few minutes at the beginning of the episode, okay, but I would prefer to devote as much time as possible to the crime and its resolution. Each episode without commercials is what? 42 minutes or so? That's not a lot of time. That being said, I'm thrilled that the idea of the psychologist is to unravel his past and set him on the right course. I need, seriously need, lol, this show to end on a reasonably upbeat, hopeful note for Goren. I rather like the idea of Goren having a friend from his Academy days and one who thinks enough of him to want him on Major Case. But that can also be a nice background touch; I don't need to see that much of the new captain.

Great news! ;D
May 1st is a lot sooner than I expected the news season to begin. And I like LOCI airing on Sunday evenings at 9:00pm.
While I have no problem with the new Captain being a buddy of Goren's from his Academy days, I wish they would have kept MEM in the Captain role. I liked her, and I think she would have interacted well with both Goren and Eames.

I'm not sure I want to revisit Goren's past again, but if that means 8 more episodes, I'm in. As long as "they" don't linger on that point. Good Lord, everyone we've been introduced regarding Goren is dead. Please, please, give it a rest. And in the mean time, can you make him as intriguing as in the early years?
As far as casting, make it appropriate.

I like the idea that Goren will have a superior who knows and respect him. Perhaps Chief Moran has been disposed? And these descriptions suggest healing and happiness for Bobby. I'm all for that.

All I have to say is: BRING IT ON!!! I am MORE than ready. As for the psyche sessions...I like the idea. I envision them being cut in, here and there, between other scenes. A lot of people have wished for Bobby to be on the road to healing...well, here you are.

I don't know about the psych sessions either, but I will take what I can get. I just hope the writing is good! Was watching the Enemy Within this morning and it still amazes me how good some of those episodes were especially compared with most of the drek on TV these days.

Today has been a happy day with the news about the CNN interview next saturday at 6 am, the date for the first episode, the schedule for the filming to take place, and some hints about the first episodes of this last season... Hopefullly I might get to see the first episode on cable TV. I confess that Detv Goren is so good at revealing criminal psyche that I don't imagine him needing a shrink... (although the shrink might get some GorenTherapy.) (This could be a partial definition: GorenTherapy: a forced relationship with a policeman or detective where subconcious intentions and the facts of a criminal act are pictured, sometimes replayed, usually in an interrogation room. It is more effective when the detective tilts its head (or upper body) and fixes its sight into the eyes of the criminal.).

Seems like a good story arc to me given Goren's circumstances but I hope they don't over-egg the pudding.

Patcat, the interview may not be exactly at 6:00am tomorrow. The CNN morning show runs from 6:00am to 7:30am. I'm DVR'ing the whole show. That's what I would suggest.
