Hi, Nikki,
Thanks for posting this... but I don’t have sound capability on my computer. Could you give us a couple of quotes, or just a sense of what he says? Since you said he talks about the cast, I presume he mentions Erbe. Does he say anything about Jamie Sheridan and/or Courtney B. Vance?

Here's the best transcript I could do: D. ****************** NBC Screening Room – Featured Video 9/28/2004 Vincent D’Onofrio on how the cast and crew come together on the set From: www.nbc.com/Law_&_Order:_Criminal_Intent/index.htmlThe setting of the interview is near trees, perhaps a park. D’Onofrio is dressed in a tan suit, white shirt, and striped burgundy tie. His hands are very animated throughout the interview. The interview questions are not heard and the interviewer is off-screen. Vincent D’Onofrio: You know, obviously I can’t say that…..without Kate, and the directors and the producers, that I, it’s ridiculous, I’d never be able to do what I do, you know, it’s a joke. But, I mean, anything that you notice me doing is just, um… any way that I have ever acted before on anything, I mean, film, theatre,…I just stick my nose in everybody’s business and hope for the best. You know, it’s kind of a thing. (fade out/switch) Most of the time we are just punch-drunk; we are so exhausted from the grueling schedule. And uh, you know, we do our best to have a good time. I don’t know, you know, it’s, it’s a tough job, and we just… the crew is just awesome. By now it’s like a family, so…<br>

Sounds pretty accurate to me. Thank you very much for transcribing this, Domenicaflor. For some reason, I can't open the file from my home computer. It would have been sometime late in the day tomorrow before I would have been able to check it out. Thanks again.

Thanks, Domenica! That’s really nice of you to do the whole bit, with the descriptions and all. He doesn’t mention Sheridan or Vance. I don’t think they’re on the set every day, so there may be a bit less of a connection. I’d like to think that they’re included in that comment that, “...By now it’s like a family...” -- it certainly looks that way, from their on-screen relationships. But they’re all good enough actors that I don’t put too much stock in that. I’ve always wondered about Vance staying off in a corner when D’Onofrio got the TV Guide award. Buck, I could understand – she’s not a regular part of the show, and some fans had... shall we say, mixed feelings about her. But I would have thought Vance would have been front-and-center of the group of people applauding for him. Who knows, maybe to avoid making her feel bad by being singled out someone just decided that all the other actors should stay in the background. That’s something I hadn’t thought of before. In any case, this is a nice little bit of commentary. I wonder if it was excerpted from a longer interview. If so, I hope it ends up on a CD (maybe the hoped-for 2nd season...), or somewhere else accessible.

NP, Observer. Anytime. I really think this is an extract of a longer interview, so I certainly hope that it gets posted somewhere. As you say, since a DVD of Season 2 may be in the works, it could show up there. I could tell from the editing that it *sounds*/*feels* like he was first answering a question more or less like "If you left the show, could LOCI go on?" or "Without Goren, is there LOCI?" That's why I think he responded as he did. He and Kathryn have the bulk of scenes, so naturally his mind would be focused on her. It would not seem likely to me that he would leave out Jamie Sheridan and Courtney Vance, but those statements may have been another part of the response. I gather from his speaking style on this interview and others that D'Onofrio tends to use run-on sentences with a lot of reference filler (the terminology escapes me right now, but I mean things that call for the listener to make inferences, such as..."like", "you know") along with a great deal of non-verbal hand motion, and I think editors must have to cut quite a bit to get the final product. They did a complete break/cut where they spliced the second interview response about their grueling schedule. It sounded to me like he was responding to a question along the lines of "What's it like shooting LOCI?" or "What is your schedule like on shoots?" etc. That's where he got into the closeness of the cast and crew and how they were "like a family" by now. To me, NBC spliced the pieces to create a vision of "LOCI set like a family". After all...it is their propaganda. I still haven't watched my S3 DVD's yet so I look forward to the extras. D.
