Courtesy of another board, I just found an extensive radio interview with Hugh Laurie that goes into depth discussing the character of Gregory House and some of the choices Laurie makes to play the character. GREAT STUFF. I wish Elvis Williams would interview Vincent D'Onofrio this way. In fact, I think I will write to KCRW to thank him, and suggest a D'Onofrio interview. Link to Real Media archive: www.kcrw.org/cgi-bin/db/kcrw.pl?show_code=tt&air_date=9/7/05&tmplt_type=ShowThank you to London19140 of the Yahoo HouseMD list for this information. D.

The KCRW interview is terrific--I've always liked Elvis Mitchell anyway, and Laurie is a great interview. This one really allows him to demonstrate his intelligence.

Well, did anyone see the season premier last night? If so, what did you think? I thought it was good, they changed the predictability formula a little. It wasn't so much " lets almost kill him, then try this..if it works he'll live, if it doesn't...oops!" I really like Ms. Ward's character. She's hilarious and sharp - she nails House with his own wit. Though, Dr. Cameron is playing the over-emotional young woman Doc...a little too much. *blah*

I confess I'm still worried about any attempt to soften House, but last night's episode worked against that pretty effectively. Sela Ward's character was used in a way that I wasn't expecting, and very effectively.
I admire the writing--here's Cameron, this attractive, intelligent, warm young woman, and I find myself being irritated by her refusal to accept reality.
And Laurie's amazing. Performance equal to Tony Shalhoub and Mr. D'Onforio (in my book, very high praise.)

I have yet to see the whole episode as I was more into a documentary on Terry Fox. What I saw, I thought was good. I'm glad I remembered and put the timer on the VCR earlier in the day.
House: "You met me at a strip club" Stacy: "You were the worst $2 I've ever spent" ;D

I agree with you Patcat I really enjoyed last nights premier episode of their 2nd season....House is a fantastic show, and Hugh Laurie plays the part to a Tee. He was on Regis and Kelly the other day and I can't get over how much of a wonderful accent he has in real life, and how he can project an American way of speaking on the show..He has said that is the hardest part of his job.....and using that cane when he walks is the second hardest thing he has to do..... I hope the man wins something for his effort in Sunday nights Emmy Awards. He is a great actor, and deserves the recognition.. Shadow

That line from Stacy about House being the worst $2 she'd ever spent in a Strip Club had me falling out in laughter! ;D And yes, Cameron usually didn't irritate me with her stubborn adherence to looking for the good in everyone. But, her refusal to face reality and allowing her patient to face the reality of her impending death - really rubbed me wrong. We'll see how the writers work with her character more in future episodes. I'm also looking forward to seeing more done with Foreman's character. House is a brilliant piece of television drama - well worth my hour on Tuesday nights. And Laurie is right up there in my high-marks book - his acting ability is amazing, and watching him is wonderful entertainment!

There was quite a funny pre-emmy skit done on this show by MadTV: essentially House insults everyone and they just take it.
Based on this and the fact that David Shore is a London, Ontario native and so he's all over the papers here lately, I thought I'd give this show a try last night.
It's really bad.
The guy is out of control. Why not cut a nine year old little girl open cos I think I gotta hunch?! And then Oh I was right! Well I am a genius Let's cut her open again cos well I feel like it?!
I'll give another episode a go but I don't think it's going to be for me.

It was funny and familiar in a most un-pc like way when the young, goodlooking doctor was caught out by House for being out-maneouvered by the little girl because he kissed her.
The critic's article was quite perceptive in it's review on the show. I wouldn't change hate to love at this point though. (A lot of the pseudo scientific explanations he comes up with to justify his weirdest actions were just plain screwy but I would be willing tol give it another go.

Can someone tell me exactly how much paracetamol and codeine are actually in vicodin? i'm curious as to just how addictive it is suppose to be. in the UK we can buy co-codamol over the counter, and that has 8/500mg of codeine/paracetamol. the show seems to focus in on the codeine aspect of the drug whereas long-term paracetamol abuse is also very dangerous. i'm wondering whether we'll see the side-effects of paracetamol rear its head in the future?

Amnesic, Do you know which kind of Vicodin, House is taking? anyway from memory: Vicodin ES is 7.5mg/750mg Vicodin HP is 10mg/660mg I don't remember the dosage in the Lortab, Norco or Vicoprofen (and there are more...I'm sure of that) ETA: I found a link for you with information on the drug and a table stating all possible dosage. www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/hydrocod.htm

WOW! only 7.5 or 10mgs of codeine and a prescription is needed! In an episode Cuddy said that House takes 80mgs, I assume that means codeine. that is only 10 tablets, only 2 more than the recommended does in the UK (which is 8 tabs of 8/500), although that is quite a bit of paracetamol.
I assume that vicodin is a company name. That seems so little codeine to develop a habit. I know that chronic use can develop a habit, but in the UK I assumed that meant the 30/500 tablets. The fact that vicodin has at most 10mgs is amazing (unless there are ones that have more).
