I was dressed as a 40's style swing dancer and he was Nikola Tesla, complete with lab coat and hand buzzer. He was going around trying to woo people into buying into patents for his inventions. It's been 8 years, ahhh romance The great Tesla with a hand buzzer, I love it! Did he and Tom Edison have a duel for your favours? Sarah, you are one smart and lucky gal.

The great Tesla with a hand buzzer, I love it! Did he and Tom Edison have a duel for your favours? Sarah, you are one smart and lucky gal. If only! As it happens, Tesla's competition was a creepy old professor dressed as a King who got down on one knee before me, grabbed my hand and, I kid you not, said, "Allow me introduce myself, I'm King Lear....L-E-E-R." Tesla was the obvious winner

I live in England, and all we are doing this year is dress up. LOL. My Dad is not fond of Halloween so we have to sneak around. Mostly people just make pumpkin soup and put some decorations up and go trick or treating Wendy Hugs

The highlight of my Halloween is the party at dog obedience school, the poor mutts are dressed for a costume contest, but only for a little while. My all time favorite was a weimeraner dressed as Marvin the Martian, helmet and all. We also play games with the dogs, Tic-Tac-Toe where the dogs are placed in a grid sitting or laying and if they move they forfeit their position. Also musical mats, we run around a circle of mats and when the music stops the dogs have to sit on a mat and stay until the music starts again, the one without a mat is out. The dogs really get into it and of course they get lots of treats. Can you tell I don't have kids?
The past few years I've been giving out small toys instead of candy, so I don't pig out and for the kids it's something different.
We have creepy decor, giant spiders hanging from the Maple tree and a little graveyard in front.
Someone asked what mums are, they are chrysanthemums, a kind of flower that blooms into the fall.
I hope everyone has a lot of fun and stays safe (how sad that we have to even think of that)

SarahIvy and sarahlee, thanks for the good wishes and the blessings upon my head. My dad's still in hospital. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 15 months ago. We take things one day at a time. Halloween... We live in a cul-de-sac and get lots of kids and go through boxes of treats. Thank goodness for the big boxes from Costco. We usually put up quite a bit of decorations. You know, I've never, ever, been trick-or-treating.

Nikki - then you need NEED to find a neighbor with too many kids; offer to take them trick or treating ! & dress up yourself.
I have cookies that I offer the "parents" while the kids get the candy type treats. Most partents give me a big grateful smile as they take a cookie and go on to the next house.

You can come to my house and trick or treat with us! It's only a 3 hour flight You won't believe this ... it's been snowing here all morning. Yes, SNOW. Lots of it, too. I'm snapping pix of my dog left and right. This is the first time she's ever seen snow, and being a husky, she's quite fond of it

Well, Trisha, family members have been telling me to pack a bag and go away for about a week! ;D SNOW! I guess I shouldn't be surprised. We've been having nice warm days, but chilly nights. Been going around in sandles and sleeveless tops. Win terpeg had snow yesterday and -11 Celsius weather. Rather than flying, I could test out my newish all-wheel drive to see how it handles the long drive and snow since we don't get that much around here. ;D

Janethyland, that wedding sounds positively wonderful! Especially the piano being played through the streets...whatever did the Pillars of the Community think? Hmmm, maybe when the mister and I opt to get remarried (I mean, we're currently married, we've just been thinking about having additional ceremonies just for fun every few years) we'll do it on Halloween! Our last wedding had one witness in a poodle skirt and the other dressed as a pilgrim, so we don't have that far to go

Hi people, I´m leaving for 15 days so if someone sends me a private message and I don´t answer, you will know why. I will try to check my email but if I can´t, don´t think that I´m rude.

Spaniard, I hope your absence for 15 days is for a good fun reason. We'll be here when you return.
Janethyland, your wedding sounds like it was a real hoot. I really enjoyed reading your tale of the roaming piano! I'm sure everyone, pillars of the community or not, had a great time.
Madger, a Halloween party at dog obedience school sounds like the most fun thing! The local shelter my wife and I support is going to have a big pet event, so Mrs. T and I plan to go. It should be an enjoyable time for both of us, the adoptable and adopted pets never fail to amuse us.
NikkiGreen, I'm sorry to hear the news about your Dad. I go along with the suggestion that you take some time for yourself and "adopt" some neighbor children to take trick or treating. Mrs. T and I are going to do that this year, partly to help our good friends who are a bit overwhelmed with personal issues, and also it's good therapy for my wife who is really looking forward to doing it, especially this year.
ETA: Speaking of Mrs. T, here's the latest update: today she had her 17th radiation treatment, so she's past the halfway point in the schedule, with 16 more to go! Reaching this milestone has done wonders for her attitude, she's been a lot more upbeat this week.

Techguy, I'm glad your wife is doing well. Almost there!
Janethyland, what I wouldn't give to have been at that wedding! My parents had stick puppets in the back of the (nondenominational) church, but they couldn't do anything about that.
Halloween: we've slacked off decorating and such as my brother and I got older (and my parents busier), but we did go out. I live on a one-street culdesac with lotsa kids, so the parents just stood in the middle of the road and chat as they watched the various groups of munchkins go door to door.
Here at the dorm it's fun, but not too rowdy. We have a dance, where you can come in costume and see the White Boy Dance Off (Prize to the worst dancer). Last year I couldn't get hold of a costume, so I wore my normal sweater and jeans but then did really garish showgirl makeup to be an "off-duty hooker". This year I'm going as Scarlett O'Hara--as played by Carol Burnett. Curtain rod and everything! One thing that was cool was how people would set bowls of candy outside their dorm room so we could go down the hall and grab a handful for a couple days prior.
Of course, there is "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" Hopefully nobody gets a bagful of rocks.
Spaniard, I hope that everything goes well during your absence, take care!

Spaniard--may your time away go well, we will miss you!
Techguy--Thanks so much for the update, I know we all think of only the best for you and Mrs. T, bless you both.
Nikkigreen--what can I say but, bless you again. This is hard beyond belief for you, and we will listen anytime.
I love all your stories. The tales of costumed dogs, fanciful weddings, and spooky kidlets--all good memories to share. You brighten my day!
