Yes stupid things like cars, shoes, jackets. To be killed over something not even tangible, not that the latter is even better. Makes me just shake my head in disgust on what this world is coming too.

Finally got this episode in Australia. I thought it was very contrived, and pretty uninspiring.
If it was an episode about Williams, and what he had to compromise to be undercover, and the pressures it put on his life as a cop, then it was a clever episode. If it was about Logan/Wheeler investigating a case, then it pretty much sucked.
Thought many of the elements of the plot were clever, but they didn't flow together into a good whole. And the acting was flat. I've been surprised how much I've come to like Logan and Wheeler, but neither seemed to be very invested in the action in this episode. Even the near shooting of Logan didn't seem to elicit much, very little emotion or desperation, particularly from Wheeler. No expression in her voice. Though I did like how Logan delicately asked the Captain not to send him to a councellor. Wheeler backed down too much with Carmen, but she seemed nearly asleep for the whole episode anyway.
Carmen cracked pretty easily. I thought her character wasn't constructed very well. Would someone who'd "cried out her heart" be so passionate about someone who treated her nicely? I thought the spray painter was a plant, otherwise it was far too convenient timing, even in tv land.
It did give some insight into why the Captain is so hyperconscious of how things look, and that people are waiting for him to fail. Would the Cheif really be someone who goes off and rants and raves like that though, it couldn't have been that much of a high pressure situation? That character seemed more of an artificial plot device than any attempt at a realistic character - someone like that in a high pressure job is heading for an annurism pretty soon. Curious that Logan spoke up there, and in such a low key way.
Liked the push through the glass door, vintage Logan, but if they were going to go that far I would have liked to see it done a bit more spectacularly.
Not my favourite episode.

But Meggyd... the episode was worth watching just to see Logan put Williams through the Precinct glass window.
I love to watch the antics of the young Logan in the original series and I respect the professionalism of the older version of Logan in LOCI, but I thrill to see the brash hot-headed Logan erupt from that professionalism and stick pool cues in someone's throat, or put someone's back through a window.
More of it, please!
Discomfort holding babies and cats on his lap is not as believable Logan as the occasional break-out. Bravo!

I think you misunderstood me Penn, I meant I thought it was good to see Logan push Williams into the window - but I thought it was actually a little low key for the intensity of the situation. I would have liked to see Logan push Williams right through to the floor, a little less control, not a little more!
Looking at the different elements of the show, it had potential, but things didn't seem to come together. Maybe it was just a little dark for me - I'm used to there being some hope in the fact that Major Case usually manages to deflect some kind of justice, but whatever they accomplished, it was never going to make a difference in that closed off world where everyone was afraid to speak up.

Hmmmm, still mulling over your thoughts, meggyd.
If that push through the window was more spectacular, *then* it would have been unbelievable. Logan wasn't ultra mad. He was just frustrated and reacting to that frustration. I'm sure he never meant to push that hard (there must have been a crack in the window and I'm sure he'll use that as his excuse..."But Captain, there was a flaw in the glass! It was already weakened."
Also, I thought I saw enough emotion on Wheeler's face -- I'm sure her hand even shook on the gun, she was gripping it so hard -- and I could read Logan's mind clearly. "Oh, crap, look what I've just walked into. I'm dead." Nope, can't complain about the emotion.
And Logan spoke up for his Captain as 'delicately' as he asked not to sent to a counsellor. He's still testing the waters with his superior and I can imagine he'd feel chipped if someone came to his defence while feeling he didn't need a champion. I think Logan would have preferred Bradshaw take a pun at him, then he could *really* fight back.
I'm definitely with you that it's not a fave episode though. I liked Williams, but the rest were snivelly and needed to be put in a situation where the police could tell *them* where to get off.

Oh well. I guess this episode just didn't resonate with me, the performances just seemed so flat to me compared to usual. As usual, with such a layered show, there's room for different interpretations and different views.
I think from reading this board, I knew someone was pushed through a window by Logan, so I was expecting something more dramatic. For some reason, I had it pictured as the window in the interrogation room, so it was a bit of an anticlimax from what I was expecting - the perils of being a few months behind in episodes and being unable to stop myself from reading ahead!
Is it just me, or is Logan actually looking younger each week rather than older?
