I just thought Eames was such a B***h in that ep. Those were her insecurities coming out, at the wrong time. Really? In what way? You mean her saying, "It's too late?" I think considering what she's been through with Bobby, she was pretty low key. Sometimes the truth isn't pleasant. I think Bobby really wanted the truth from Eames when he asked her if she was still worried about her career being tainted by him. And that's what he got. Maherjunkie, I tend to lean toward Bobby's defense too. When Eames first made that comment, I thought it was mean thing for her to say. But in hindsight, especially since "Purgatory" I've changed my opinion.

I agree, DJ, Bobby needs to come out of this and get it together, but I also agree with Patcat that it can't be overnight - and I really wouldn't want it to be. I'd love to see Vincent take Bobby through the recovery process. I think he could do it in a way that'd be just as human and real as the downward spiral was. TPTB - are you eavesdropping?

(The episode where Elliot is shown in the teaser going to his kid's confirmation--or is it the twins' confirmation? I guess it might be the twins'--is called "Scheherezade." Think it's in Season 8. Inter al., it is supposed to show him caught between church life and job--a priest asks for help with a parishioner, the confessional seal causes trouble in the investigation, so on.
I know this because I was able to put together three scenes from this episode for a classroom demonstration on "how to write the shortest paper ever" using "three examples of how Elliot Stabler's religion is a pattern on SVU." That's probably about its level).
I was as jarred by the "too late" line as anyone, but the thought of a submissive Eames makes me cringe more.

I was referring to Patcat's reference to Purgatory. I can live with Smile Eames.

I am not a CI shipper, so I obviously don't think VDO and KE have the same type of chemistry. Whether the actors play it up, or the writers do, for me, it just isn't there. I don't think it is only me, or there would be the same amount of shipper intensity going on over CI as goes on over SVU (or seems to be from my limited exposure to it all). If I ever saw G/E in a situation like I saw E/O last night, I think I would never turn CI on again. It just seems creepy. I love the chemistry the VDO and KE have, but it just isn't the same thing. I think that part of the problem is that they have tried to make it the same thing. There are a huge number of people that would disagree wtih you lean. I was shocked over time, that of the fanvids I've made, I realized the most watched are the shipper ones. (if you look at the numbers now, they're skewed due to periods of time for which some of the vids have been blocked. I bust my butt to make thoughtful vids like Sober and Perfect and then My Life comes up and blows the Sober numbers out of the water!) The non-shippers just have more to say about it. The shippers keep quiet so they don't get their tender hearts stomped on in the non-shipper wake. It's quite interesting to watch and analyse.

This is the moment when he needs someone (Eames!) to grab him and give him a good, hard shake and tell him to stop burying his pain. She did a little of that in Purgatory. I think she needs to do it again. She's the only one he halfway listens to and therefore the one who could probably get through. Of course, I'm aware that there are a lot of people who wouldn't want to actually see her have this kind of heart-to-heart with him. But it doesn't have to be soapy. If it was done right, it would be two friends, sharing a drink or a meal, and having a real life conversation about his self-destructive behavior. Friends sometimes have to have those kinds of talks. If written well, we wouldn't even need to see it, OBC. It could be referred to. I don't think Goren could get any lower than he was at the end of Frame. I keep wondering what kind of shape he was in right after they hauled Declan's ass away. I'm wondering how the writers are going to acknowledge that in the next episode.

I always imagine that, after Declan's confession, Bobby went home and had a good, long cry. He'd have needed it just to purge all the feelings flying around in those shell-shocked days after Frank's death.

It's the same pattern with fanfiction sites. That's what I find very interesting about fanficiton, because aside from enhancing character quirks, that's the aspect that frequently gets enhanced, too. I guess I'm guilty of that myself. So maybe there are more shippers out there than one would think. But never cease to make the other videos QFC - it'd be such a loss!
And I agree with Patcat, I would like to see Bobby recover, step by step.

I always imagine that, after Declan's confession, Bobby went home and had a good, long cry. He'd have needed it just to purge all the feelings flying around in those shell-shocked days after Frank's death. A good long cry is what he needs, but like most introspective men, I see him once again trying to drown his sorrows at the local neighborhood bar (ala teaser in "Purgatory"). As co-workers, there is only so much heartfelt conversation that can occur. In spite of what some people expect, they just aren't in a position to be best buddies. Heart to hearts are what lovers have, or close family. Or best friends. They are none of that. I know what I'm talking about. I work 40 hours a week with primarily one person. She is in charge, and I am her assistant. But we make decisions together. She is very open to my advise. We talk about everything. She knows all about my life, and I hers. Are we friends too? Yes. But there is a necessary barrier. She is also my boss, and that affects our relationship. Same with Eames & Goren. She is his boss, so to speak. It would be better for their friendship, and a possible love relationship, if they weren't partners. Even better if they didn't work together at all.
