I also prefer "The Posthumous Collection." For many of the reasons Susan has mentioned. Also, I found is refreshing that there was enough time spent revealing the very screwed up childhood of Spencer & why he would commit such horrible crimes. That aspect often suffers, and we are left wondering what was in the perps background to make them act so? That was the problem for me with "Undaunted Mettle." I couldn't buy the pregnant wife murdering the son, because he might ruin her lifestyle & take away something from her unborn child? She had to realize that at any point, her life as a third wife could have went crashing down. They should have diagnosed her with a bizarre hormonal condition that occurs in the last trimester of pregnancy; a reason that would make her a murderess.
