Maybe Nicole has 9 lives? She's used Australia, England, and now South Africa. The only English speaking countries left are: Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Canada, and America. 3 lives down, 5 to go? ***SHUDDERS AT THE THOUGHT!!!!*** And, of course, Nicole will have a perfect British accent with each new identity/nationality.

Generally I love reading the bits of scripts the REEL ladies post, and studying the changes from those early drafts to the shooting script that we see portrayed on the show. In this case, though, I’m sorry they put those pages up... especially so soon. I’d rather have gone through the summer in blissful ignorance.
I did think the bit with Logan seemed interesting. From the way it had been described I wasn’t expecting any interaction between the two teams. Perhaps this is a very early season 5 episode, where they are establishing Logan’s addition to the Major Case Squad.
But Wallace? I’ve always thought it was unfortunate that a fan who happens to work at NBC was in a position to alter the course of a character arc. The ending Balcer wrote for Nicole Wallace was appropriate, satisfying and acknowledged the loss of the person she could have been. For me, that was the real ending for that episode.
I hate the fact that they’re bringing her back. It feels totally unreal. I’ll watch it. But I’ll be very surprised if they manage to change my attitude. That exec who was unwilling to let the creative side handle the creative decisions is the party responsible. There never would have been a vote if he hadn’t been refusing to accept Balcer’s decision. He managed to turn the title of that episode into a classic, CI-style many-layered title. Great Barrier indeed. And the reef by that name is famous for sharks.

I did a complete double-take when I saw that bit. I'd half-expected them to re-introduce the character at some point, since the 'chosen' ending to Great Barrier in the US was the ambiguous 'is she or isn't she?' ending. But so soon? Whoa. I see some people are very upset and angry at this, and I'm sorry about that. Especially for those who have suggested that they may just stop watching the show altogether. Personally, I'll wait and judge the episode when I've seen it in its entirety. Maybe I'm just not inclined to be critical, but I've enjoyed all the Nicole Wallace episodes, and I'll look forward to seeing a fourth installment.
*ducks to avoid flaming*
And maybe, just maybe, the character wasn't brought back exclusively as a ratings gimmick. Maybe the PTB were considering the fans (yes, we are out there in force) who actually enjoy the inclusion of the Wallace character on the show. Maybe they'll kill her off for sure this next time, or maybe she'll continue to be the one that got away. Who knows? I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride, thankyou.

Blue, I completely respect your opinion, but from what I've read on this site and others (I read far more often than I actually post) the consensus I gather is that most of the fans DON'T like Nicole. I rarely read anyone coming to her defense. I'm with you on trusting the PTB, and generally I do. But on this one I say the show looks like it's going to JTS big time. Although like you I will reserve further judgement until I actually see it.

Oh hail, I knew this would happen. I'm one of the flakes who voted for the "live" ending because I liked the ambiguous nature for that character, but I don't want to see her again!
Have not read the spoiler, don't plan to anytime soon. Grunt, I've missed the past two episodes because of "Family Guy", and I have a sneaking suspicion that may continue to be the case...it'd be a pity, but I'm not gonna force myself to watch something I don't feel in the mood for.

Observer;
I agree with your statements but am intrigued by your comments about the executive. Do you have more information you'd be willing to share? You don't have to, of course--I'm just intrigued.
I want her gone, but I was not satisfied with the ending of GREAT BARRIER and hope for a more satisfying end to Ms. Whatever she's calling herself these days.

Why did I look? why? I thought the "major" spoiler meant something about the squad. But alas, it's boring old Nicole.
I wouldn't mind her in the least, if she was written halfway compellingly, or even vaguely interesting. But she's the proverbial strawman, all flash, no substance.

I do agree with you, there. It's cool, I respect that most on the fan boards don't particularly like dear Nicole. I should have been more specific - I was referring more to many friends I have who have enjoyed the Nicole Wallace storyline here in Australia, but don't post on any fan boards. But I am hoping that they give us a good, strong clear ending to this new ep. Preferably resulting with her being fatally shot. I liked the suggestion of someone else, that perhaps she could actually physically wound Goren this time... I don't know, and then Eames could shoot her dead in defense of her partner. That would be a sweet ending. ;D My two cents and a bit worth, anyway.

I got the feeling from the fan boards that everyone really wanted Nicole to die. I was quite surprised when NBC gave us the results that she lived. So, I knew she would be back for another episode. What I would like to see for the character of Nicole is to have her arrested. Put her into a Orange Jumpsuit and then send her to trial. We could watch Carver earn his pay. Since they turned the show into a soap opera anyway, the last show of the series we could have Goren and Eames be witnesses at her execution.

Ah, but New York state effectively doesn't have the death penalty anymore.
And (major sarcasm alert) pretty blonde white women don't get the death penalty.

Blue, I'm could live with that kind of ending. I'm all for Eames stepping up to the plate on this one. I know she was upset about pulling her gun on "Donny", but I doubt she would lose any sleep over shooting Nicole. (I'd love to see Eames standing over the body, eating a scone.) hehehe

Well, I read the spoiler. Guess I better start hunting now for poll options--and yes, I'm calling the right to do the poll again for Nicole's 4th appearance. I swear there's a country-western song somewhere in this mess, and I can find the titles to fit!
