Question: Did Kevin know that Father McShane was his biological father? We know that he found out that Melanie Grasso was his mother and that's why he wanted to find her. To either hurt her or extort money from her, I forget his motive. I just can't recall a scene where they mention that Kevin knows his paternity. Anyone? I am pretty sure Kevin knew McShane was his father. The DVD's are in the bedroom where my hubby is sleeping. So I cant pull it out for a quick viewing. But I feel like Kevin intentionally came into McShane's life to haunt and taunt him and to find out who his mother was.

I don't want to come across as an insensitive sexist you-know-what, but I still can't muster up any sympathy for Melanie Grasso. How is lying and keeping a secret about an older child protecting her husband and children? She seems too self-absorbed about how her pregnancy and giving Kevin up for adoption is all about HER, and her need to not to have her reputation tarnished, I can't give her a pass. Of course she's not responsible for Kevin's choices, and how he acted on his anger to hurt others to the point of murdering someone. But she's too indifferent, too obsessed with circling the wagons around herself and her "new" life to even express an interest in how Kevin was doing. Maybe, just maybe, a little involvement from her would have steered Kevin in another direction, or maybe not. I just feel that as a mother, knowing Father McShane has been responsible for Kevin, she could have been more of a positive factor in Kevin's life as he grew older and perhaps headed off the tragedy that followed.Chiming in late (real late) but I'm with Techguy in absolute ZERO sympathy for Melaine Grasso and negative sympathy for Fr. McShale. I'm not absolving Kevin in any way shape or form. He was a cold hearted psychopath who chose to take meth and beat on defenseless people. They had other options and chose not to take them. If they loved each other that much like some previous posters have said there would have been no sin by leaving the priesthood, acknowledging their love and them marrying. Or there was the other option. But they chose to dump Kevin let the system shuttle him from one foster home to another she they wouldn't have to come to terms with the consequences of their bad decisions. She goes off and has her charming little family and he gets to be "man of God". She came off as self absorbed to me as well and selfish caring more about maintaining her perfect family life than reaching out to her son who was hurting. Though I love Goren, Eames was the hero to me. She correctly pointed out that Ms. Grasso was not an innocent bystander and whether she liked it or not, Kevin was her son too. And what of the poor sexton who exposed the whole scheme? He was the other hero and never got exonerated. I might have a mean streak but I wouldve like to see Kevin live to face the consequences of his actions and as Goren put it "A grenade thrown in her perfect little family life" in court where both of them (Fr McShale and Melaine GRasso) put on the stand.
