I was under the impression that the Logan/Falacci meeting episode was supposed to be a flashback. If that's true, than that will be the first flashback in the seven season history of CI. To me, that isn't a good thing. We're supposed to be in the moment when we watch CI, that's what makes it realistic, unlike other shows of it's genre. This flashback approach combined with the out of order episodes makes me question Leight's showrunner skills. What's next? A "home alone" flashback of little Bobby & Frank, circa 1965?

Actually, last season they had a flashback in Maltese Cross, and done very nicely, I might add. But then again, in this case its to compensate for the fact that they f#&*ed with the order of the episodes, and as we have seen in the G/E episodes that hasn't gone over too well. Lets just hope.....

OT, but there were some very fine Logan episodes in S5 and S6. "Maltese Cross," "To The Bone," and so on. A lot of effort was obviously invested in that direction.

Because of those early episodes, I thought they force fed us Logan. He's okay, but, I prefer Goren. And by the way, I don't see Eames as a blonde. Light brown with highlights maybe, blonde...don't think so.

Like I wrote before, episodes get aired out of order for all sorts of reasons. While I'm not happy with the continuity problems that resulted from DEPTHS being aired as the third episode, I'm also glad it wasn't the first one of the season. AMENDS was a stronger episode, and for the new viewers I'm sure USA wanted, I think it gave a better introduction to Goren and Eames.

A fairly decent episode, but this had one of the stupidest openings I've seen. I wish they'd had less of the bimbo and her men and more of Harper and his motivation. I find it interesting that the sunken ship was named the Philomela.

I was watching the rerun last night--or at least sort of watching it--and still believe Harper fell while lunging for Goren's radio. I will grant that Goren made no effort to keep Harper from falling into the water.
Eames' explanation of what happened to Harper--"He slipped and fell"--seems to me to be a good explanation of what happened to Harper's ancester. He slipped from the principals of his family and fell victim to greed. And perhaps that's what happened to Harper as well. And maybe I'm just reading too much into everything.

I thought I saw the guy reach for Gorens radio and Goren used the guy's own momentum against him. I thought it was deliberate.

Wow, what a gruesome story, Nikki.
But what i read in your link, there was the thread in this story that tied it to that legend: keeping atrocities secret and buried.
What I didn't see and what, in hindsight would have made things really interesting was the whole wreaking revenge theme. Harper seemed nothing like as willful as Thaeus, if any thing he was a milquetoast version of his rapacious ancestors and, yes, the blond girl, seemed like a bimbo, an obvious red herring, floundering with no real anchor to the rest of the story. (pardon the string of ponds.)

I really like that!" (I'm watching LEGION right now and that seemed the perfect reply) because I really do like the parallels you've illustrated. So I also don't think you're reading too much into it!

After Eames and Goren where talking with the Quaker man, walking down the steps.
You can see in the background on the wall, a verse saying Matthew 25:40
"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

I think that there are many attempts at subtlety in the later seasons that the longtime viewer could miss because they're not like the attempts in the earlier episodes. Not to say that the later attempts are successful, always, IMHO--but they are there. I guess Leight likes different touches? I know I've been dismissing the later episodes as being painted with a much broader brush. Maybe I should look more closely ...

painted with a broader brush this season, yes. The verse Cassie noticed, which I didn't, sounds unexpectedly subtle. Maybe Mr. Leight is giving us the benefit of the doubt.
