I'm still watching, just to see it through, so all I can comment on right now is how Alicia Witt's facial gymnastics are hurting my eyes.
And nice purple Princess coffee mug. *snort* Even Wheeler wouldn't be caught dead with that.

Facial gymnastics? I will have to get my glasses fixed. Perhaps they make up for her woodenness of delivery.
In seriousness, I am going to go back when I have the episode in front of me and make a list of writing that I thought was particularly poor. Sometimes, I don't know how they say their lines without breaking up.

I'm mostly just listening at this point, but I can say for the first half of the show Witt was mugging for the camera...strange facial tics or something.

"Pretty cocky to walk into Major Case when you're running a scam."
Hmm, sounds like.....Blink?

Brought this over from another forum. It's in two parts there but I consolidated here so that's why some of it might sound odd. Anyway, I guess from the few comments I've seen here it's not popular here. LOL Oh well, I guess I watched another show cause I liked it.
Will vote tomorrow after I sleep on it and maybe check it out again. On first look, however, I liked it a lot. Probably because it was a case file without and post-ep angst and there's nothing to cloud my judgment over the crime. Who would have thought one line from a show could ruin the whole darn thing for me. LOL
That said, I'm actually liking the interaction between Logan and Falacci. Yes, I complain about the character's backstory and looking like someone who works in a record store, however, suspending disbelief - as we often do for fictional detective stories LOL - I have to say it was nice to watch Mikey and his new partner continue to learn about each other. I like the banter between the two. She can hold her own and isn't afraid to dish it out. The look on Logan's face as he watches Falacci pour her coffee from the paper cup into the Princess mug and adding sugar, etc. Cute.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, after a good night's sleep I have to say, the episode was pretty good. There were some issues I have but they're minor enough that I could enjoy the show and the Logan/Falacci interaction.
Let's start with the minor issues. Sometimes I find these "sex" plots to be a little tiresome. Yes, I know in real life they exist and we can't ignore them completely but I thought that's what SVU was for. And on the up side they haven't over done it yet. The women kissing and making out in the car was gratuitous. Unlike Anti-Thesis with Nicole and Christine, this one seemed tacky. We get the message, they're lovers, all right? Another grab at the young male audience? Give it a rest. Women are your core audience so get over it. Sometimes I get a little fed up with the whole attempting to appeal to the young male libido. There's a reason this show is on BRAVO and not SPIKE. You want the young heterosexual male audience run CSI which runs on SPIKE.
All right, now for the good stuff.
Liked the crime story portion of it. In this one we know who the perp is so there's no 'guess who dun it' stuff going on. I think I'm beginning to prefer these because I love watching the detectives try to figure it out and the 'who dun it' stuff hasn't been as good since it seems I can figure out the 'who dun it' more than not.
The sleezy lawyer lady Leann had absolutely no redeeming qualities. Very self-centered and absolutely the opposite of her partner in crime, the hapless Tammy, who while very needy, seems to find remorse in the way things turned out and who seemed to genuinely care about Noah. She even liked Anya.
Liked the way they played Leanne. Liked the twists in this one. And once again I say I liked the interaction between Falacci and Logan. He reacts to her pretty much the way I would. 'You've got to be kidding me?' comes to mind with that purple Princess mug.
Loved the look he gave her about her knowledge of Japanese bondage and when she started spouting off in Greek to Nikos. LOL
All in all, it was a solid outing, IMO, and I liked it.
Again, will probably post more later. My hubby was watching baseball again last night so we'll be watching this one again tonight probably. I always find more stuff to obsess over when I watch it the second time so I can look at the details.

I think it was a reasonably good pedestrian cop show, with the hissable evil villain ("You want everyone to love you! WHAT HAVE YOU GOT NOW?") and the gratuitous makeout scene and the gorgeous lead detectives bantering and locating evidence at the drop of a hat. The problem is that most viewers of LOCI expect way more than a reasonably good pedestrian show. Everyone gaze at the full moon and wish hard for better writers . . .

I guess what really bothered me, there was no good ending. The guy was innocent, but killed himself, ok he was cheating on his wife, who is now a widow to raise a daughter alone. But would he kill himself over a girl he knew for 2 months? Geez was his wife that bad? I know jails are bad, but It took this guy three times to hang himself, broke his foot when he failed one of the times, didn't he make noise? Didn't someone hear something?
Then how about the poor baby? Who is gunna raise the Baby, his violent dad? Who beat the mom? Who beat the babysitting next door neighbor?
I don't know I just felt bad after this episode. Even with good snarks and good moments the bad parts, and no good endings left me sad.

The crime story was pretty good, and I did like the interaction between Noth & Witt this time around. Ross also got along better with Falacci. So for me, this was a better episode than "Seeds." However, I have a few observations: What is up with the way Falacci walks? It's like she's never been in heels, very odd, very affected. I don't think its on purpose, though. I think she just walks funny. On a positive note, I like how she burst out with the Greek reprimand. Is Nola a Greek name? Perhaps so. I also liked her outfits much better in this episode. Cute when they were looking at the elevator scene with Ross - trying to guess the writer's height. Ross (who's short) says that all men lie about their height, and Falacci snarks something about "factoring in the traditional male two inch lie." (For a split second, I thought they were talking about another male two inch lie.) ;D I also couldn't help but think that Goren never had to lie about his height. (audible sigh....) Is it Leight idea lately to include a bunch of snarks about writers & playwrights in the plots lately? In "Lonelyville," they talk about the lonely writer, also how the writer posed a certain way to hide his double chin. Not to mention that the writer says in interrogation, "I'm a writer, I drink." I liked Jerry's performance, the African American man whose credit card was stolen. That whole scene with the oversized purple "Princess" mug was ridiculous. The camera has to do a close up of the mug? And of Falacci's matching purple fingernails? Like, "Hey, I have little kids & I use this mug they gave me" Did Eames' Santa Mug get that much publicity? Lastly (for now), some scenes I could have done without, like the scene with Tammy & LeAnn making out in the car. Guess who that was for... young guys who like to see women get it on, that's who.

Yes, nancyt--personally, I admit that the change in the writing has been really hard for me to deal with in that all I watch is LOCI and classic mothership episodes Perhaps I should just get over it?? *s*

I thought it might be an inside joke for those who know all the players. Ross gets to say the lines about playwrights and Noah the book writer. Bogosian does both so perhaps it's kind of a friendly joke between writers? I find hearing Bogosian saying those lines makes me laugh anyway. Let's not all take ourselves too seriously kind of a thing.

I did like this episode better than "Seeds." The interaction between Noth and Witt is getting to be more entertaining. I did think that the purple princess mug was going a little bit overboard. All and all, not as good as a Goren episode (VDO still makes my heart flutter), but still enjoyable.
