ANNABELLA SCIORRA ("THE SOPRANOS") JOINS CAST OF "LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT"
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- May 24, 2005 -- Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") joins the cast of NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as Detective Mike Logan's (Chris Noth) partner, it was announced by creator/executive producer Dick Wolf. Sciorra plays Detective Carolyn Barek, who, along with Logan, alternate with current series stars Vincent D'Onofrio (Detective Robert Goren) and Kathryn Erbe (Detective Alex Eames). The two Major Case Squad detective teams will split the caseloads, with each fronting 11 episodes for the series' fifth season.
In addition, Jamey Sheridan (Capt. James Deakins) and Courtney B. Vance (A.D.A. Ron Carver) are returning and are slated to appear with both detective teams in all the episodes. Law & Order: Criminal Intent airs Sundays, 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC.
Sciorra, nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Tony Soprano's mistress Gloria Trillo on "The Sopranos," also appeared as a defense attorney in the premiere episode of Wolf's Law & Order: Trial By Jury. She has starred in numerous films including "Cop Land," "Jungle Fever," "What Dreams May Come", "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle", "True Love", and "Reversal of Fortune". Her upcoming film releases include "Twelve and Holding" and Sidney Lumet's "Find Me Guilty".
"Annabella is an extremely talented and versatile actress, who has that rare combination of beauty, sex appeal, power and humor. I also anticipate she will have terrific chemistry with Chris," Wolf commented.
Executive producer Rene Balcer added, "Detective Carolyn Barek is a brilliant criminal profiler who ascended from the hardscrabble streets of Brooklyn's Cobble Hill to the highest ranks of the NYPD and beyond, spending two post-9/11 years with the FBI. Barek is as surprising, intuitive and razor-sharp as the talented actress who plays her."
Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Dick Wolf, Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.

I thought I read somewhere that Olivia D'Abo returns as Nicole Wallace in the season premiere?!?!?! Forgive me for not coming up with the article, but if this is true I have several simultaneous reactions:
1) KKHHHAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! 2) Will they truly, for real, honest-to-Jesus kill her off this time? 3) By getting her obligatory encore out of the way first thing, it might mean they'll be able to focus on putting out good scripts and stories the rest of the season.
In any case, whenever Blondie returns, I'm staking dibs on that episode poll. You hear me--it's mine!!

I think the title of one of the season five eps is 'Conviction' which, for some strange reason made me also think of N-E too but I've read nothing so far to support her return.
Another episode is called 'Shield'. I've read bits and pieces and they both sound good.

I read.......somewhere. Entertainment Weekly? TV Guide? The Sunday edition of the local paper? Anyway, I know that I read over the weekend that Nicole Wallace will be back because I was so annoyed by the information. If they would just write her well. But no.

I remember D'Abo was to be in an episode called "Grow". I did a Yahoo binge and found this: www.imdb.com/name/nm0001882/IMDB.com has D'Abo credited in the season 5 premiere episode titled "Grow". I am just greatful there's no hype with this episode! hehehe

Per the news release issued by nbcumv on 09/09:
GROW--SEASON PREMIERE
September 25, 2005 at 9:00PM
DETECTIVES CONFRONT LETHAL NEMESIS NICOLE WALLACE IN WAKE OF MURDER; EX-'LAW & ORDER' STAR CHRISTOPHER NOTH RETURNS TO CAST AS MIKE LOGAN -- As returning Detective Mike Logan (former "Law & Order" star Christopher Noth) joins the Major Case team, Detective Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) finds himself confronted again with Nicole Wallace (guest star Olivia D'Abo) -- his murderous nemesis -- when he and Detective Eames (Kathryn Erbe) check out the drug-related slaying of a city health inspector. The key link is the victim's brother Evan, (guest star Kevin J. O'Connor), a recently widowed medical examiner who is romantically involved with the re-surfaced Wallace, and the investigators fear that the man's young daughter might be Wallace's next victim. Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B. Vance also star.

It's not that I mind another goren vs nicole rematch. But the last one was a bit proposterous (remember she threw herself out the window and escaped as Goren, gun drawn, and tense looking bounded in seconds too late. This was not a wothy story line. On the other hand there are scenes where she is truly his match: Anti-thesis and POI were pretty especially Anti-thesis.

I'm not looking forward to a rematch. Nicole never needed to come back after Anti-Thesis, the NW mess could've been wrapped up then. I didn't watch the last Nicole one when first it aired, I watched a tape, but I'm not watching this one, at all. I'll just read the boards to see if they finally kill her off. If she lives again, I swear, I will have a cow. At least they are getting this out of the way pronto, so we won't be taunted through the season, dreadlfully knowing she's coming back at any monment. Gawd, I hate Nicole! Ok, I'll shut up now...

LOL .. Nicole... I think you would find it VERY hard to have a cow....but I am with you on that one. I want to see the end of her now...in this episode. Do away with her once and for all, and get on to newer and better things. Now I think we BOTH can get off our soapboxes and wait for the season to begin.....And let's hope we both get our wish.....
