Nicole/Elizabeth has served to define Goren in many ways, but I also think she's outlived her purpose. She hasn't changed or adapted: he has. Goren has had worthier, or at least, more frightening opponents--Tagman, Nelda--and the Evil One seemed fairly pathetic in her last encounter with him. That said, I would like her to get a more dramatic end. Yes, he has "grown" since his worst encounters with Nicole - and she, really hasn't developed. I think she can be dealt with now, her purpose with Goren (giving his character depth) has been fulfilled, I think. She was pathetic in Great Barrier, to me...as I was hoping for some heated Goren/Nicole interaction. All I have seen are clips from POI and Anti-thesis - so I was expecting that Nicole Wallace. But Goren had moved past her ability to seek out his vulnerabilities...and she just seemed stagnant and impotent. A good, imaginative end to the Twisted Evil-ee!B*tch would be something to look for in this upcoming premier. |

Well, if they can figure out a way for her to get under Goren's skin (rather than being just an annoying rash), maybe they can salvage the episode. If they HAVE to bring her back, they might as well do it in the first epsiode and get it out of the way. I agree that she wasn't very formidable in Great Barrier; he was ready for everything she had to throw at him.
