The principle being what though - that one nemesis on the show is enough?
I'm personally thrilled by the prospect. We have long known that Logan has mother issues AND now he's battling a foster mother form HELL - To me it just seems like an opportunity to get a small glimpse into the psyche of his character - something we don't often get to do with most of the characters in the Law and Order Universe.
On another point - I also think that the last Deakins episode should have been a Goren/Eames one. I'm not angry about it or anything IT just seems that it would have been the right way to go.

Sounds fishy to me. Can't imagine a season finale without the stars of the show. Especially when the Capt. is leaving. Come on, we gotta have some input from Goren and Eames. It won't be the same without that awesome team.

The principle being what though - that one nemesis on the show is enough? IMO, one nemesis is one nemesis too much. Goren (and Logan) face new nemesises each week. To keep bringing the same one back over and over just seems wasteful and silly. The other L&O's don't feel the need the need to lean on that crutch and I find it pecuilar that CI does.

I like the idea of a nemesis - I think it lets us delve into the characters abit more - shows us their weaknesses etc.
I wasn't crazy about her at first BUT upon repeat viewings I have decied that I quite enjoy Nicole ( no rotten fruit please ) - I find that she adds alot of intrigue to the episodes she is in. I find her very interesting.

It won't be the same without that awesome team. I just hope the producers did not cave and decide on a "closure" episode in case they are not renewed" because that almost always backfires on a "bubble show" I have rarely seen a show that tried to tie up lose ends get renewed by a network. It is almost like the show is giving the network the "its ok you can cancel us" signal. Examples of "bubble shows" that had a "season ender/series ender season finales" include : District, Judging Amy, Guardian, Homicide(to a degree), Providence, and Lifetime's Division. One exception of a show that had a supposed series ender was Practice in 2003 but that show only came back for one more season with only 3 remaining regulars with reduced roles and James Spader as the new lead and it eventually evolved into Boston Legal. I like L&O the original but I don't know how NBC could justify canceling L&O:CI and not L&O since L&O often performs worse against "take or leave it CSI:NY" than L&O:CI does against all of the "buzz shows" like Desperate Housewives, Sopranos, and not to mention the many previous "buzz hits" like Angel, Alias, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, etc.... L&O:CI performs worse against Cold Case than any other show and that is one of the reasons the 4/16 episode did so well and the 4/9 episode did not. The 4/9 episode was directly against Cold Case due to sports overrun where the 4/16 episode was against a CBS movie. I just hope NBC places L&O:CI on Monday-Thursday between 9-11 eastern and not against a CBS crime drama.

I'm still holding out for at least a scene with Goren and Eames in the final Deakins ep... Yeah, you'd think Goren and Eames would be around to see Deakins leave.

I'm allergic to tomatoes! One of Lydia's poison ivy candles should do the trick. What fun it would be to see Nicole all itchy and scratchy before being torn apart in the back alley catfight! ;D I've got my camcorder ready!

Maybe LOCI is using Deakins leaving as incentive for those of us viewers who don't usually watch Barek/Logan to tune in to their episode -- and that's not such a bad idea. I think the show has been pretty smart at trying to make some connections that bring both halves of the show together. If it's true that most of Deakins' personal stuff is handled in the Goren/Eames episode, then that's a nod to the longevity of the Goren/Eames relationship with Deakins. And I wouldn't be surprised (though I'd be very happy) to see Goren and Eames make a short appearance in the season finale if Deakins does leave. Here's hoping they do.
