I didn't mean "brush off" in a cruel way. Just that neither of them really says or does anything. That's always struck me as showing something about their respective emotions. I agree with the concept that Goren knows how to deal with Eames' after she shoots someone. She doesn't want concern for herself displayed. I'm sure she feels horrible after using her gun. Empathy would make it worst. I noticed another little silly thing about this episode. When the girl was sobbing to Goren & Eames that she spent two nights on the couch so her boyfriend wouldn't smell Holiday's cologne. Did anyone else wonder why she just didn't take a shower before she went to bed?

I took that as psychological guilt. Like even a shower wouldn't totally "wash it away". The cologne or the scummy feeling of having betrayed Jacob. Like Lady MacBeth washing and washing her hands. Theresa didn't go crazy, but the guilt was just as strong.

Outerbankschick, I think the guilt issue is a good spot (no pun intended ). I wonder if the theme of betrayal was partially foregrounded to work in parallel with the G/E scenario. To be clear about the gun thing, I don't think Goren is mistreating Eames. I just think that that scene in "Proud Flesh" shows some very interesting things about their respective personalities. Goren's emotional upset is very much focussed on Slaughter. And you have Eames up there by herself. Initially I was pointing out just how great Erbe was in that scene, although VDO was obviously very moving as well.

A friend of mine is a Magician and records any show with magic in it. He really liked this LOCI. The old school tricks and the new stuff. He is more of a table Magician. He also appreciated VDO's talent in this one. It was evident that he had done card tricks before and his love for the craft. I watched it again today, but had a question. Who was Miranda talking to on the phone (she was in the red coat) after the "trick" went wrong? Her boyfriend? He didn't know she was working for Carmine. Was it Holiday? I was a bit confused, I thought it was Holiday... I know you guys can help me out on this... just a bit brain dead today. Too many meds after surgery I thought her boyfriend knew about her working for Carmine. She was calling her boyfriend to tell him what had happened. As to the cologne bit. I think she was afraid even if she took a shower that perhaps the stench would come through and out her. That and the guilt over her betrayal of her boyfriend with that sleaze ball. JMO This was really wide open for interpretation.

Eames makes no bones about wanting to be treated as an equal and showing her a lot of emotion/concern after a righteous shoot would piss her off. I more business like approach would be more to her liking and her benefit.

I noticed another little silly thing about this episode. When the girl was sobbing to Goren & Eames that she spent two nights on the couch so her boyfriend wouldn't smell Holiday's cologne. Did anyone else wonder why she just didn't take a shower before she went to bed? I thought the same thing Donna - because, um, how did she explain why she was sleeping on the couch? (oh, dear, your metrosexual multi- eyeglass thing bothers me so much tonight I must sleep randomly on the couch instead . . .) I loved the G&E interplay on this episode but as usual some aspects of the storyline left me scratching my head. I mean, if Carmine really WAS buried underground in a coffin, how would they have been able to change the IV and the catheter? I was left with a sudden vision of a cemetary plot with an IV standing next to a headstone.

I believe there was no IV set up while he was in the real coffin and underground. When he was in the safe room he had the IV hook-up. He wanted to look gaunt and starved so that his duped fans wouldn't start asking questions like "how come you look so robust and well fed after being buried for a month?". I think that's what happened.......I could be wrong.

Another inconsistency I noticed (only because I've seen so many damn CI episodes....) Holiday admits at the end that Miles didn't put up much of a fight due to his emaciated & weak condition. Meaning (to me) that there was some sort of tussle between the two before Dean inserted the potassium chloride. We know from prior CI episodes that ANY signs of struggle are evident on the body. Even when Nicole kneeled on Larry & inserted the needle under his tongue (Season 5 ep) there were marks on his chest. Why no signs of struggle noticed by Rodgers on Miles' body?

Hmm, that line didn't bother me as much. I just assumed that he didn't put up a fight at all. What got me just a little (I may be nitpicking here) was the tunnel. Miles uses the remote to deactivate the magnetic current and opening the coffin. Then he crawls out into a tunnel. But when Goren and Eames go there, the tunnel is sealed. I guess after they dug the coffin up to get Miles out of there, only to find the coffin empty, they filled the grave and never noticed the tunnel? Or did Miles fill the opening to the tunnel up, after he escaped the coffin? Because the hole to the tunnel looked pretty packed. Goren had to really dig to discover the tunnel.

But why would he, IV lines have ports, he could shoot the potasium and not even have to open the coffin, watch him on the screen, watch the monitor, but then he might have wanted him to see the face of his killer.

...do we think there's any significance to the fact that Stone had a deal with "NBC"? .... It was a laugh-out-loud line for me D-Roe. Nine million bucks over three years for a fraud like Miles Stone! I thought it was a deliberate shot at the network for investing in a circus of idiotic reality and game shows while suspending pilots for scripted series. (Quality drama is apparently not deemed a "cost-effective" option for NBC co-CEOs Ben Silverman and Marc Weinstein). I noticed the hokey "Miles Stone" name too -- chalked it up to the silliness that comes with late nights and too much sugar and caffeine. AL

About the tunnel. . .Stone's people (namely Jacob) filled in the grave. Jacob didn't want anyone to find out about the "safe room" so I just figured he made sure to cover his tracks good, which is why Bobby had to dig around to find it. I think the reason the grave was filled and the coffin put into the hearse before the cops got there was to cover-up the deception. No one was supposed to find out what a fake Miles was.

It also made for more press coverage to have such a horrible thing happen to the magician. Any press is good press.

I know that it does really help me to be able to see what I am replying to as I type it out ... short term memory issues! And sometimes I save the quotes on a notepad file to answer after the fact b/c I don't have time when I see them first. Thanks for reading my viewpoint
