I'm with you, ragincajun. We need something to give us some closure.

I agree with Metella and others who didn't like the flashback of clues prior to the aria.
[rant] Memo to writers: we CI fans are quite capable of connecting the dots so knock off the dumbing down of the resolution of the plot. It's an insult to our intelligence to spoon feed CI viewers in this manner. [/rant]
Another distraction for me was the camera shots in the opening boxing sequence that left no doubt in my mind were intended to evoke Martin Scorsese's "Raging Bull"--the slow mos, closeups of the sweat flying off a boxer's face after an opponent's hit, the low-angle shot and quick zoom across the ring to the boxer seated in his corner, etc.
[rant] Memo to writers and/or cinematographers: Scorsese did it much more effectively in black and white. Imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery--in some cases--but looks like a ripoff copy here. Try a little imagination and originality next time. [/rant]
Whatever was the wardrobe department thinking when it put Julianne Nicholson's character Wheeler in that hideous poufy ruffled blouse? This outfit, and Gold's sarcastic comment about having a daughter Wheeler's age, only served to emphasize Wheeler's youth and inexperience and undermine her ability as an MCS detective. Was all this really necessary?
[rant] Memo to writers and wardrobe department: It's very ill-advised to undermine a key character in a TV show with inappropriate attire and comments. Writers, go back and take a refresher course in character development. Wardrobe, go back and take a look at Carol Burnett's parody of Scarlett O'Hara's drapery dress from Gone With the Wind. I'm sure it wasn't your intent to try to one-up Ms. Burnett but that's what happened. And it wasn't very funny or original. [/rant]
OK, now that I got those issues off my chest...
Despite the above complaints, I still liked this episode a lot, mostly because of what it told us about Logan mentoring a seriously troubled young man, how Logan tried to tame Peter's killer instinct (much to the disgust of Gus the manager/trainer) and how even Logan's best efforts failed to prevent the final tragedy. This episode reminded me of "Suite Sorrow" in a lot of ways, how someone can become so enraged at a parent or surrogate parent so as to be provoked to kill that person. In "Suite Sorrow" Goren is distraught at not being able to see the final murder coming or being in position to prevent it. Logan is also out of position and no less distraught to prevent the murder at the conclusion of "Ten Count" but I have to wonder if his failure to stop Peter--to completely deprive him of his killer instinct--will somehow play a role in his departure from Major Case Squad.I did get to see The Perfect Man with Chris Noth this Weekend it was very good. I recomend it.

I'm the only person who liked the blouse, I guess *s* She's reed-like and flat-chested and about 5'9." She can definitely pull it off. At least they were giving Wheeler a style of her own. She's closer to my age (I think she's 35), but, whatever she wears, she will always be destined to look a little younger than she is. I have to tell you, there isn't actually much you can do to stop people from thinking you're young if you look young (I'm 33 and ROUTINELY get asked if I go to the college where I teach, even in a suit). You can dress a certain way, but there isn't any reverse botox that I know of. Anyways, sorry, I just felt kind of sorry for the blouse, and for Nicholson

When I first saw that blouse I thought it was the 'anti-tank top' - and then I had a major 80's flashback (I think I had a shirt like that in high school). There's been a lot of snark on different sites about the fact that tank tops seem to be the outfit of the day for women in Major case, maybe they decided it was time to button her up.
Regarding Wheeler calling for backup - I actually thought it was a bluff, she figured Logan could handle it but pretended to call it in to throw a little cold water on the hotheaded dudes in the room.

The blouse? Meh. I didn't notice. But I did notice that Wheeler/Nicholson is looking must bustier since having her baby. She's still really thin, though. End of pettiness. I don't think Wheeler was pretending to call for backup. She was worried that the other boxers would get involved (aka the firehouse scene last season) and she'd have to help Logan. Since she did a rather dismal job the time before, I could see in her face a look of "deja vu dread." OT: I want to just say that I love this Board. Everyone's opinion is respected. I mentioned my feelings about "dumbing down" on another site, and felt like I was getting jumped on. Even if a poster here disagrees with me, I never feel that way. Thanks, guys. And Techguy, "Suite Sorrow" is a perfect complementary example of a past episode that had the same tragic end result. Good thinking. That's why you were missed. ;D

Hmm I didn't notice did Eames have cleavage in The Vanishing Act? Maybe our comments might have reached someone. If not maybe Wheelers might get seen soon, or does she have any? Not being disrespectful, I just don't look at that, unless it's thrown in my face.

I have to laugh. I think that blouse is starting to take on a life of it's own. :-) LOL

...I didn't bother to rewind the DVR. It just didn't peak my interest. At first I thought maybe it was the girlfriend, killing the brother to get the trainer to spend more time with her boyfriend. But really I didn't care... I too was interrupted, ragin, and like you, I just didn't bother to rewind. I'd already gotten an eyeful of The Puffy Shirt (hello! My fifth grade teacher, minus the bifocals dangling amidst the ruffles) of which I had read so much on this board. I knew The Guest Star Ferrer was always going to be the murderer, and the older brother was trying my patience - how many times does an actor have to pound a wall/fence/door/whatever to indicate grief? Noth/Logan a thing of beauty to watch. Eps like this one, though, are just dragging his character to the inevitable finish line. I'm glad that so many of you here liked this ep, though. Me, I just got bored with it, no major complaints.

The whole episode was just sad. You can see how they are setting up Logan's leaving. He's becoming disillusioned with being a cop. I can see him throwing in the towel at the end, saying I'm done and walking off into the sunset.

I'd rather have a disillusioned Logan than a dead Logan. The time for his leaving is near, and I hope CI does the character justice with a dignified sendoff and not just go for the easy shock value exit.

CI writer Charlie Rubin has a consultant credit for the "Seinfeld" Puffy Blouse episode.
Nothing happens by accident! ;-)

I'll do some blouse speculation. A gift from Wheeler's French fiancee, purchased with amore from an exclusive Parisian designer house? When she wears it it reminds her of their romantic nights together?
