He knew his life was effectively over, so this was his grand finale. IMO, this perfectly sums up Declan's motives and illustrates how self-absorbed he is. It was all about him, really. Even his so-called "redemption" of Bobby was all about him.

Something I was thinking about.... Frank's funeral. Who paid? We learned that Bobby has enormous debt and that his credit cards are maxed out. He's already taken out credit union loans. Even a simple funeral costs thousands of dollars. I'm sure Frank didn't have any insurance. And I do know from experience, that religious institutions do not pay for such things. They would be bankrupt if they did. The best they can do is wave the fee for the funeral mass. Am I silly to worry about this?

I've wondered about that too. I can't imagine Bobby letting Frank's body be carted away to Potter's Field (although the guy certainly deserved it).

Working down the list of possibilities: 1) Frank's body was donated to science, so bits of him are floating around in formaldehyde somewhere, and the leftovers have been disposed of . 2) Bobby borrowed from Eames to pay for a straightforward cremation - $1800? - and his ashes were interred with Frances. Usually enough room in those full-sized graves to accommodate an urn or two. 3) Frank is now enjoying the hospitality of Hart Island, as seen in Blasters. Actually, Hart Island looks rather cozy, and it has water views.

Never thought about the body being donated to science. Hmmm.....possible, although not probable. I see Bobby feeling guilty giving permission for that.
Cremation is definitely a possibility. It is much cheaper, and it doesn't have the stigma with the Catholic Church that it did years ago. However, Bobby would have to purchase a plot (or a mausoleum area) for the urn. You are not permitted to mix & match, meaning that you are not permitted to put an urn in a cemetery plot dedicated to caskets, and vice versa. At least not in NY. Bobby could keep Frank in his apartment until he has the funds for a better resting place.

As much as I can't imagine Bobby letting Frank's body go to Hart's Island, I also can't imagine him keeping Frank's ashes in his apartment.

I think he'd probably scatter the ashes, maybe someplace that reminds him of better times with his brother.

So there is room for more?

Was Frances buried in a family plot? So there is room for more? Excellent point, QFC! Since they were long divorced, I seriously doubt that Goren Sr. & Frances were placed together in death, so Frances may be buried with her parents. There is usually room for four caskets. That would leave a spot for Frank. It still costs for the interment & burial, but at least Bobby saved money on the plot. We must sound very ghoulish to any lurkers out there...

The glimpses we've had of Frances' gravesite suggest it's not very big.
I lean toward the cremation of Frank's body. For all of his self serving babbling about a higher power, Frank doesn't seem to have believed in anything but his next fix. I sense Bobby isn't terribly sentimental about physical remains--mental and emotional ones, yes, but not physical.
I'm not very concerned about my physical remains, beyond keeping them from being an annoyance to others. I would like a memorable memorial services/funeral, with a lot of music and weeping and laughing. Then burn me up and toss me on the flower beds.

Well, Frank was found with eight hundred bucks in his pocket. That money could be applied to the cost of his burial. Maybe Donnie's mom footed the bill?

I think Bobby returned the $800 found on Frank back to Donny's Mom. She was duped into giving it to Frank for Donny's "lawyer." No, I think Bobby paid. Just another problem caused by Frank. At least it's the last one.

I was thinking (dangerous, I know).
Gage comments to Bobby that Eames is "just like your mother." Is she? Or does Gage have no idea what either Eames or Bobby's mother is/was like?
And another thought--If Gage is a psychiatrist, is it possible Bobby underwent therapy with him?
