Oh, God!
:shudders:
Gage attempting to assist Bobby in any kind of therapeutic way is just. . .creepy.

Gage comments to Bobby that Eames is "just like your mother." Is she? Or does Gage have no idea what either Eames or Bobby's mother is/was like? And another thought--If Gage is a psychiatrist, is it possible Bobby underwent therapy with him? Patcat Is Gage a Psychiatrist? or a PhD academic? (I assumed the latter) I think Declan hardly knows Eames except he saw her before Jo kidnapped her and at Frances funeral, but beyond that?.... I can't imagine Goren would have said a thing to Declan about her. As for Frances - maybe he just knows she kept Bobby never knowing what to expect next. He might have just been making an assumption about her. I think Eames is like Frances in her quick insightful, sometimes snarky, comments that leave him smiling. Would you go to a friend for therapy? Some of my friends are my best therapists!! Declan could be pretty astute or he wouldn't have had the reputation (the early reputation!!!) he did, so who knows what was discussed. There was a fleeting moment of therapy in the Frame aria when Declan told Bobby he'd done the best he could for his family.... quickly smashed in his usual ego-centric fashion, but he was right on the button with that comment. Just my Friday afternoon musings when I should be doing something else....!

I think Goren probably opened up to Gage about his childhood, hence the "he could have gone either way" comment. The question is whether Goren voluntarily opened up to Gage or did Gage pick and pull info about his mother/father/childhood out of Goren during those years when he mentored Goren.

Gage comments to Bobby that Eames is "just like your mother. Patcat I believe Gage was somewhat jealous of the working relationship Goren had with Eames. Maybe that was Gage's attempt at driving a little wedge between Goren and Eames so that Goren would become closer to Gage (like in the old days).

I think Gage is very jealous of Bobby's relationship with Alex, although Gage would be jealous of anyone taking up Bobby's time. Maybe that's why he killed Nicole--she was a rival for Bobby's attention.
I also think Gage dismisses Alex because she's a woman.

You know, considering that Nicole was a formidable foe, adept at poisons and all that, Gage was pretty nonchalant about her, too. He does seem to be dismissive of women.

Seems like Declan dismisses every woman that passes through his life.... 1. wife commits suicide 2. ignores Jo until she becomes a serial killer 3. kills Nicole (supposedly) 4. waves Alex off as just a female cop (token)
All his attention focuses on Bobby (his "son"). He even dismisses Frances, her only purpose in the was to produce Bobby.

The preview for this one aired last night on CTV, which should hopefully mean we are going to get it next week. (With CTV, who knows though)
One question - on the preview there's a shot of Goren and Eames in what looks like a young girl's bedroom and Goren opens up a box on the bed. Whatever's in the box causes Eames to gasp and turn away. May I ask what was in the box? I'm going to watch this ep regardless, but if it's something that's going to make me react the way she did I'd rather know so I can save the tape for the afternoon instead of live in the evening. (I've got something of a low gore tolerance)

The shot is a room in a bed and breakfast in Massachussetts. And if you've got a low gore tolerance, you better plan on an afternoon viewing or perhaps practicing the "look away" would be better for you. (That's what I do when I know a gorey part is coming!) It is a human heart! Although the person it supposedly belonged to was someone who I didn't think HAD a heart and if it is true, that person is probably functioning just fine without it!

Thanks. If it looks anything like some of the other hearts I've seen on TV, I can handle it. It's dismemberment that always gives me nightmares.

Nicole is not dead. She's not dead until her lifeless body is actually shown on the medical examiner's table or in a coffin. Mentally and physically deteriorated Declan was/is no match for her. The DNA profile stored in the computer could be hacked into and changed. Who put all the money in offshore accounts for Goren's undercover name? Who bought life insurance policies? Declan? Nicole has the money, not Declan. She wants Goren to finally go nuts and have nowhere else to turn but to her like Clarice Starling ended up running away with Hannibal Lecter. It would also be great for Nicole if everyone thought she was dead. Declan is her witless messenger. That heart belonged to someone else. If they really, really were sure they wanted to portray her as DEAD they would have shown her dead body for certain.
As for the belief that Goren is now "free" and will be on point and sharp and get back to his old self ... I dunno. The way he was acting at the end of the episode didn't look like he was feeling that he had been finally freed. It looked like he was totally devastated and his world had completely fallen apart. I doubt he was devastated about his useless brother. He was upset because of Nicole supposedly being dead and hearing that he was the only man she ever loved. He loved her too (what she could have been) even though he knew it was wrong and unattainable.
