Yea Det1stgrade, I saw that interview with Wolf on the DVD of season 1. Not surprisingly, I'm sure he's asked "What the f***" about Vincent more than once in regards to ad-libs that Vince puts in. Personally I think they are great, and adds to Goren's unpredictability. Making him a guy you can't take your eyes off of for a second...you'll miss something great! (ex. SILVER LINING when Goren drops all his files, and backs into the door. Clearly not what Sheridan and Erbe were expecting... and hilarious facial expressions on Sheridan and Erbe while Vince keeps on going with the scene. Priceless! *grin*)
I think its a great intertwined mix of the writing, directing and Vincent's talents that make Goren such a memorable character, and I wouldn't change that mix for the world.
Hey, when is POSTHUMOUS COLLECTION coming on again?

The schedule has been tweaked again. No CI on February 23rd at 8:00.
Sunday's "Crossing Jordan" episode will be airing instead. This suits me just fine ;D, as I missed the show on Sunday.

i agree, i dont like the longer hair-look on goren either... it just doesnt suit his character. But i do like when he lets that day's or-so worth of stubble grow on his face, because he always looks so 'perfect' in the suits & ties, it ads just the right amount of imperfection; almost a reminder that he inteed is human. Anyhow thats what i get from it LOL.

MelTex, are you referring to "The Posthumous Collection" or the "Crossing Jordan" rerun NikkiGreen posted about?
The latest jerking around by the NUTS, I mean NBC scheduling department, is "The Posthumous Collection" has been taken off the schedule. We're getting a "Crossing Jordan" rerun instead on February 23.

I enjoyed watching this episode again last night – it held up well, even knowing the plot twists ahead of time, and the plainclothes scene where they arrest the suspect is even more fun when you know it’s coming. The ways this episode reflects on Goren’s childhood are naturally interesting to me: the scene where Goren reacts to the sister’s description of beating the suspect when he was a kid; and, in the final scene, Goren’s affect when he says, “You know, you can repress the memory of abuse all you want, but it always finds a way to express itself,”<br> But what makes it particularly intriguing is that just half a season later we get an even more direct confirmation, in Stress Position, when Goren reacts to the imminent threat of being beaten – and reacts very differently than he has in other life-threatening situations (e.g., the standoff with the murderer in The Pardoner’s Tale; the shotgun scene in Phantom). Usually, the filling in of elements of Goren’s backstory is spread out over a longer period of time. The question of physical abuse in his background has certainly been raised before – by his affect during conflict with various authority figures (and when Dougie’s mom went off on him in Con-Text), and by one PTSD-type reaction in Mad Hops. But this episode was the first time I felt it was specifically confirmed, and to have it come up again so quickly was interesting. Of course, it may well be just the happenstance of various episodes having elements in them that would trigger reactions in someone with Goren’s backstory. It was just striking to me, seeing Stress Postion, and then having both this episode and Mad Hops repeated so soon afterwards. In any case, I think this episode has a lot of strong points – both for those of us who like getting bits of Goren’s backstory, and for those who just enjoy an engaging story – and it also has lots of extras that we enjoy – good lines/participation for Eames, Deakins and Carver; a plainclothes outing; some great partnership moments between Goren and Eames; and an ironic final line that is actually integral to the story, works well, and is not only in-character, but serves to add depth and insight into the character. All-in-all a strong episode that stands up well to repeat viewing.

I agree Observer, this was a great re-viewing of a good episode. And I caught, this time around, the change in Goren's affect when he made that statement about physical abuse. It was somber, as though he was letting Spencer know, " I know where of I speak."
And personally, my favorite scene is when Goren and Eames are playing Spencer in the square... when the interaction between the two partners lets us have a little glimpse of just "Bobby and Alex". It was refreashing and charming, the way he made her blush at his "almost as pretty as the real thing.." comment. It shows, he can still say things she's not ready for, especially when they are doing their undercover "dance".
A very entertaining episode, with Goren at the top of his game, reminicent of S 2 eps. ;D

I missed the references to Goren's history of abuse. I need a better explanation of the background in this regard. Please help out. -Beth

The references are all nonverbal, and hence, still up to speculation. I've seen enough clues to agree that D'Onofrio is suggesting that Goren was beaten. He's very good with nonverbal cues, and I can't imagine he would be hitting the notes so well on accident or that both Observer and I are reading too much into it.

I agree...there was something in both tone and look that made me think that Goren had experienced some physical abuse. How much if true...we will probably never know.
I too like this episode...from Eames restrained glee at Goren finding a scent he couldn't identify...Goren's subtle sense of horror when he realized the women in the photo's were dead...the street artist byplay...a lot of things.
And I'm one of the people who doesn't care for the permanent stubble...simply because it's non-regulation...and I also find it distracting...I was in the service...and you followed the grooming rules...or else. The NYPD's no different. But that's just my opinion.
Please forgive any mis-spellings...the codeine cough med is kicking in.

I re watched this episode last night on Bravo. I have always liked the episode - especially the G/E and perp in the park scene - but I noticed something that I wanted to ask you guys about. In the opening credits there is a different picture when VDO's name is shown. I have never seen this credit pic before, and I have never seen it in any other episodes opening credits. Did any of you notice it? I wonder if it is a case of VDO not liking the photo or someone just overlooked the change. Maybe I am just watching TOO much of this show... No, wait, there is no such thing as too much LO:CI!! ;D caseyswife

Hi everyone, I caught this episode on the BRAVO marathon also, I taped it, and It was very interesting. I LOVE the scene in the park. It looked at first like Goren was trying to play it off like he was coming onto Eames...like complimenting her on her eyes, and that sort of stuff.
This whole episode caught my attention in a lot of ways though.
Anyone agree?
Thanks and write back, Rachael

Hi Rachael
I enjoyed this episode for a couple of reasons. Of course Goren in his plaid shirt, Eames acting like she is a young adult. But what I really liked about the show is when Goren and Eames visited Doris (Kristen Rohde), Spencer’s sister in the slammer. Doris was a trip ;D Completely clueless on how cruel she was, yet funny, as she talk about her childhood days of growing up with her brother. The look on Goren’s face was priceless too! Of all the supporting guest stars on LOCI, I feel Kristen Rohde is worthy of an award.
What else did you like about the show?
