The Santa belief thing is a conundrum. My twelve year old told me she only pretended believing in it the last few years because it seemed to be important to me! . That's basically how my younger sister and I got. I don't remember the age. Our parents seemed more excited than us at that point as they had to wake us early. We gently "broke the news" to them at some point. They were not unhappy. They had guessed as much to be true.

Trish:
Belated anniversary wishes. It stinks. It's not unusual for me to be sick on my birthday as it's at the premier of flu season (Nov 18), so I know whereof I speak.
To all: I had a good Christmas.
The important thing was that I got to see family, and they all liked what I got them, which is great because it wasn't a lot. Apparently -- without my input -- they decided no presents. I told them "too late." and it was. But it was fun to give them out. And we had a lot of laughs and a lot of food.
There was a L&O: CI marathon Sunday night (at my parents) but it was so late I couldn't stay awake. And I had to drive home and go to work the next day so I could't caffeine-up and push myself through it.

I went to the sales after work yesterday. Actually I got sucked into the sales because I take a shortcut through a shopping mall on my way home. I ended up buying some massive bathroom gift baskets without too much pain. But now I'm done for another year.

I was thinking of going to some sales for things like that, but only made it as far as the corner drug store to buy all their candy to give to my nephews and niece yesterday. There's nothing quite like the sight (or sound) of a 2yo, 3yo, and 5yo hopped up on M&M's, jelly beans, and sugar cookies. And just for good measure, I let them have Coke to wash it down. I'm saving the bubble gum for just before they leave ;D Happydancer, thanks I'm glad you had a nice time and got to be your families only Santa. It does feel good to be a giver. I missed the Bravo marathon, too. But I did manage to see 1/2 of A Christmas Story only to have it ruined for me by my brother who swears that the boy who played Ralphie grew up to be an adult fim star. I've decided not to believe it, so if anyone googles and finds out it's true, please don't tell me. That movie means too much to me.

I admit to taking a wicked delight in seeing how many gifts people give to my niece that have bells, sirens, whistles, pounding keys and throwing involved.

Ah, Trisha, it is soooooooo wonderful being the Aunt. Whenever my niece and I leave together, my mom says to me "remember, YOU are the grownup". HA! Maybe so, but I'm very immature for my age! She got "Floam" for Christmas this year, a gift from my dog! (how mad could my sister get at my dog?) My only regret is that my other 2 nieces and 1 nephew live too far out of state to really torture their mother with such wonderful "gifts".
But as for not googling Peter Billingsly, I couldn't resist. I checked the IMBd board, and apparently he was in "The Breakup" and is a bud of Vince Vaughn, not sure about "adult films" though.

Tis the season for Pecan Pie, morning, noon and night!! While over at relatives home, my hubby asked about a gift that was for our daughter. It wasn’t under the tree, he said . Heheheee I went home and found another bag of goodies for them all that I forgot to put under the tree. They still haven’t opened them yet. I guess, cause we are on the run again with work. This weekend they will open the remaining gifts. But the sad yet funniest piece of news is. My sister, well she lives in an apartment complex. She said the new neighbors across the hall from them where fighting all Christmas morning. Her teenage son started to give blow by blow description of what was going on through their peep hole. The Paramedics came, cause it turns out one of them stab the other. (not real bad) The paramedics told them they had to call the cops. My nephew who is 14 ran from his post to get dressed, so he would look nice He said, "cause on Law & Order the detectives always interview the neighbors". Their holiday got back on track, and the neighbors are back at home. Christmas was nice, a little wet, but nice

ha, ha, ha! That's classic. Janet, it's not much colder here, I'm afraid. No snow at all Well, at least this weather will lend itself well to me getting my lights down before Feb! Your traditions sound wonderful. I've been hoping to make it to Ireland to visit family eventually (my dad is first generation American and has lots of family in and around Dublin.) Now I don't know if I should plan this trip for summer or winter! And what sort of toy is this grow your own alien? I think my girls would love something like that.

Hey, quit it with the sad faces cos no snow. I'm likin' it. It took all my energy to clear a path for me to walk through let alone drive through on my snow day. I grew muscles no girly-girl should ever have! I've been house-sitting for my parents and they're coming back in about 2 hours. There is NO WAY ON earth I can clean such a mound of dirty dishes in time. The cat is no. help. at .all. Before, anyone can offer sage/smug advice, let me tell you I have been cleaning as I go. I've been cleaning around the dirt. Around it.

Hey guys! What's the episode where a doctor goes nuts (or something) and donates his organs to people who he wants and expects to do good deeds with their new-found lease on life and when they decide to take another path, like be a stay-at-home mother, he thinks they've wasted their chance and kills them?
He's found out because he has a fragment of bone from a murder lodged in his neck.

Season 4 Ex Stasis, I'm pretty sure. Meanwhile, there is a commercial for the CI Marathon this Sat on USA, and the announcer asks "What makes Detective Goren so good?", and my mother answers "his nose, smellovision, coming soon". The beagle puppy is "visiting" us for a couple weeks to be housebroken, so the real entertainment here is watching the beagle (a high energy dog) get the shih tzu (a very low energy dog) to chase her. We are having a blast.

We just got back from Asheville and visiting the Mr.'s mom. She is not doing well, one moment she is sharp as a tack, the next she can't remember where she is, at least she knew who we were. She's on heavy duty pain meds, it's sad to watch such a vibrant person being brought to her knees by age and illness. So we haven't had our Christmas yet. Duncan is getting impatient, he knows there is loot for him, I'm getting impatient too.... I guess we'll do it tomorrow if the Mr. doesn't go to work, if he does I might just have to start without him. Well we did get to watch "It's a wonderful Life" once and "A Christmas Story" three or four times. I'm trying to get myself in gear to clean up a little, so I'm doing avoidance work instead. I am the master of procrastination, I was going to join Procrastinators Anonymous, but missed the deadline (I know, old joke). Well I'm off to catch-up on five days of news, sudoku, crossword puzzles, comics and this boards post, that ought to keep me busy for a couple of hours, I might even get around to doing some laundry, yuck. I hope everyone's Holiday was beautiful and full of friends and family, and that the New Year brings us peace and beauty. madger
